If you have any problems with Mattlures or any other bait maker, I suggest contacting the manufacturer or dealer directly before airing them out in public on a forum such as Swimbaitnation, etc. If you don't get a satisfactory response in a reasonable amount of time (a week or so?), then go ahead and post away if you want. The swimbait makers and dealers (both local and national) that I have dealt with have been more than willing to make good on a replacing a bait that doesn't run right.

I was shorebound this year so I'm going to stretch the term "productive" in making my list. I'm using Rob Belloni's calfishing.com "Reviews" page as my basis for identifying swimbaits. Baits (7) and (8) were "productive" elsewhere:

(1) BBZ-1 - This is a bait that stops trout anglers from wandering over and asking questions

(2) 8-inch Triple Trout - I was lucky to look up just in time to see an osprey changing course to check it out.

(3) 7-inch MS Slammer X2 - A favorite of one 9-inch largemouth

(4) Tru-Tungsten Tru-Life 7.5-inch Swimbait - Pulled a ~6 lb largemouth out from under a dock

(5) 3:16 Baby Wake - Pulled the same (?) ~6 lb largemouth in from deepter water towards same dock a week later

(6) Rago Generic Mouse - Rising trout love the tail

(7) ABT Lures 4-inch Shad Ripbait - Who would have thought a 2-3 lb yellow bullhead would crush it (MN)

(8) 7-inch MS Slammer X2 - It was dark and I couldn't see the bait or the large blowup in the general area of the bait but I'm going to count it as I successfully resisted setting the hook after a couple of fishless days (AL)



I hope to get around to posting some information about "new" swimbaits in the next week or so. I'm not sure how many folks get around to other swimbait related sites so I've compiled a list of new baits and other baits that people may not be aware of. Hopefully somebody else will find it interesting to see different baits from various places.

Heres my latest swimbait. Its a custom painted bbz shad. I have a Tru Tungsten perch on the way also, so one perch in each should get me by. I paid $35 shipped for the BBZ, not too bad considering the stock bait is $20.

Exactly. I agree with RB. Its only got one hook, and I'm sure it will stick a Smallie just fine. Tru Tungsten's has two hooks, so take your pick.

Its only 4 inchs long. I'm keeping it far away from them muskies :cyclops:

Chris,..that Perch pattern should do very well in WaWa/Sammy and anywhere else that Perch are preyed upon by Bass,..I always do well with my lures that represent Perch,..! Definately gonna have 2 pick 1 up!

Be prepared to wait for that slow sink to get down to depth. They weren't kidding when they said slow.

CB CB CB Man going for them low blows at the club....HawgHunters man ive met a couple guys from there,1 of them serious rookie forget his name though but hes like 7' tall:-" Do you know any of the guys from CCBC..So you gonna head out this weekend and give the new swimmy a throw to see how it works..or to the nearest YMCA pool..i would like to know how it work as far as action and balance as to reeling in.Im gonna try to get a couple for tourney box, but im not a big swimbait guy so dont really want to just go trow 50$ on just any 2 or 3 and call it good...

Don't forget about the OG of swimbaits the AC Plug. They have some killer baits (revised and new) that will hammer the bass in '09. But hey, what do I know?
The question is, will you throw them?
