Hey i tried to seach but its not working for me.

I have a Loomis Worm and Jig mosssyback right now but ive come up on a opprotunity to buy an NRX, I was wondering if anyone has one and what they think? is it worth all that money? or would i be better off with two cumaras or legend tounaments?

Id be intrested in the 853 wich is a 7'1 Medhvy worm rod.

I fish St Croix rods, and have the legend tournament dropshot rod, and I have nothing but good things to say about all my St Croix rods. I know that GLoomis makes good rods as well, I have a buddy that will fish nothing else, but the price is a bit steep in my opinion. There's alot of good, reasonably priced rods on the market now. If you have alot of diposable income, then by all means get the rod that you really want. But just know that you dont have to spend that much to get a good rod.

That's a high dollar rod. Unless you're getting a discount or if you are really cmoney, I personally wouldn't get it. When I look at that money you could get a real nice rod and reel for that price.

I have the st croix avids and shimano cruicial and have been impressed with those, the legend is a sweet rod and cumara are pretty sleek, I just can't get over non cork handles for cumaras.

I'd also look at the rod warranty reputation, st croix's aren't too bad, need to pay for shipping and I think 25 bucks for a new rod. Not sure about shimanos, I believe g loomises want more money.

I personally wouldnt spend 400+ on a rod, it is a Loomis so I'm guessing it's probably worth the money. If you want a good light rod check out Dobyns rods, http://dobynsrods.com/ I've thrown these a bunch and have NO complaints. the savvy series is affordable and a good rod.. It's your choice what you get, but this is my opinion.. Good luck with your search!

Chris all you really need is a glx if you wanna spend high end money.
i dont see a point in spending the extra for an nrx if you wanna go down the loomis rod route.
I personally really like dobyns. I would get two rods over one nrx rod.
The champion extremes are great rods.
Also something to consider is loomis's warranty is going downhill as of late.

Not having any personal experience with an NRX and other than opinion, unless you are getting a really killer deal on it...why spend the money? More money does not equal fish. Not saying it isn't a good rod, but my personal thought is if you do some research you can come up with some product info and field testing on many rods, and maybe find out who has said rods in stock to get a "feel" for them. My guess is you can get a few really nice rods for what an NRX is retail. I keep hearing nothing but positive info about Dobyns Rods and the St. Croix. Do some homework and don't get caught up in the hype. There are a lot of good rods out there. You might be pleasantly surprised. Just my .02

As Austin said, you really don't need an nrx. In my opinion, some of the glx rods feel just as good. With that said, I think Auburn Sports had a deal of buy one nrx full price, get a reel free. I think I had the option of either a stradic or curado. So that's basically $200 off if you needed a good reel anyways.

--Oh I just remembered, I believe places such as Three Rivers has Dobyns demo rods you can check out and that puts you in a drawing for a boat in 2012?

I actually have looked at all the other rods id be intrested in and fished quite a few of them, I was just asking for anyone that actually HAS an NRX for their personal experience.

And yes i would be getting a killer deal at $300 OTD

$300 Is a killer deal ! Break that rod once , $100.00 to replace it ! Break your rod again and your back to the store looking at full retail ...$500+

They're nice rods, if I had the money I'd have 1 or 2. I'm stuck with Dobyns.

Recoil guides are a great insurance policy. They are quality blanks so breaking them will more than not be from carelessness. It is true though, I wish it was still $75 to expedite it and everything. The only time I've broken a rod was from being careless and allowing a battery to roll over them and bounce around on top while on the road. Haha. You should have seen my face and how slowly I lifted the battery off my rod to see the damage.

The coolest part of Dobyns Warranty is that if you break your rod you can simply walk into 3rivers marine or Auburn Marine and hand them $60.00 and grab your replacement rod right off the shelf ..

One of these days I'm going get me a good 'skipping' rod for skipping tubes, etc. under docks. The rod I use to use many years ago got broke and I don't like the rod I'm using now. I'll be looking at the Dobyns rods when that time comes, hopefully in a couple months.

I plan on picking up a Dobyns 704 here soon as well, its one of the most expensive rods I have/will have. Why spend 500 on one rod?
Use that 500 on 2, 3, or 4 rods...
I have a st croix that I beat on and has done awesome for me, for only 100

I've got a few of the NRX rods and they are the best rods on the market now IMO. One piece of advice I will give you on that rod is to go one step heavier than you have in the GLX or Mossyback. If you are looking for a good worm/heavy football head rod I would suggest the 854.
