Hey guys,
Which rod`s and reel`s are you using for bass fishing (for which type of baits)?

Rods and reels are just tools, and as you have heard before, use the right tool for the right job.

If I am fishing drop shot, plastic jerk baits, open water, etc., I usually use a spinning rod.

If I am fishing spinner baits, crank baits, rats in the slop, heavy cover, etc., I usually use a Casting rod.

If I am just out for some fun, and have no need to catch numbers or size, I often go with a Fly Rod, a hair mouse or frog, and fish the outside edge of the pads or reeds.

Note that each kind of fishing can be done with the other tools, but you will never cast a 1/8 oz. grub with a casting rod, and it will wear you down trying to cast a 3/4 oz. buzz bait with a spinning rod. Tools, just tools.

Now, what type of fishing do you like to do? That will determine the tools you need.

i have a spinning setup perma-rigged with a 3-0 wide gap hook and 20 lb fireline for weightless plastics. other than that i use a 6'6" medium heavy baitcaster spooled with 12 lb mono for my spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and topwater plugs, a 6'6" medium heavy baitcaster spooled with 17 lb vanish for my weighted plastics (texas and carolina rig), and a 7' medium heavy baitcaster spooled with 17 lb vanish for crankbaits and jigs. just what works for me.

I overpack for bass outtings:

1. 6' Med baitcasting 12lb line rigged w/spinnerbait
2. 7 1/2' MH baitcasting 50lb braid w/flipping jig or Texas-rigged baby brush hog
3. 6" Med baitcasting 12lb w/trophy scum frog, Rat-L-Trap, or crankbait
4. 7' MH baitcasting 17lb line w/traditional texas rigged worm
5. 6 1/2' spinning 6lb line for deeper worm rigs like dropshot or my own recipe worm rig, doubles for tube jig rod
6. 6' Med spinning w/8lb line for GP

I start like this and then make many (sometimes many, many) variations throughout the day as conditions and fish moods dictate.
One word of advice: ALWAYS keep atleast one spare rod rigged with a plastic worm at all times. If a bass misses your other lure quickly toss a worm at him. He will often times come back and hit it.

I'm currently using a Hello Kitty rod / reel for baitcasting and a SWEEET Spongebob Squarepants rod / reel for spinning.....
