The almighty BANJO MINNOW

I have been very curious to see how many of you have tested out the Banjo Minnow. Me and my dad have some from about 5+ years ago when They first came out on TV commercials. We have had no success with them, but havent took the time to seriously use them. Has anyone had success with these soft-plastics? Is the New and Improved Banjo Minnows any better than the old ones? I do understand the key word IMPROVED LOL, but if they were so good before, why would they improve them?

ahh the banjo minnow post! this is the beginning of the end...

Nothing against you fishingpro your a great guy, I just knew it was a matter of time before these types of questions started coming about.

Without this going into a 3 page thread....

The bajno minnow is a soft plastic bait and that's it. Its basically like a fluke but is way more money and has an infomercial about it. Imagine if the senko was like $20 for a 5 pack and had infomercials about it on late night TV. It may be a fantastic bait but its not magic. It wont make bass appear in places they weren't before. Save your money and buy some Zoom flukes.

I have seen Zoom Flukes a couple of times, but I wasnt sure on how they worked in the water. Are they like swim baits or Plastic worms? Any perticular color or size u would recommend? 1 last question, How do u rig them? Dropshot or texas rig?

I like green pumpkin but it depends on the water and yada yada

You can fish them a number of ways. Drop shot, weightless texas, carolina rig, weighted hooks, the double fluke rig...list goes on. They are just soft baits with a fork tail like small bait fish. Not swim baits and not a worm type but flukes

I have a question about points. U have 15 more posts than me but double the points. Do u get points by responding to Reports as well or is there some kind of glitch?

back in the day i was persuaded into buying these peices of junk. never really used them and i never will. there are many baits WAY better then these things. general rule of thumb is STAY AWAY FROM INFOMERCIAL PRODUCTS!!!

oh, and i don't really get the point system either, i wouldn't concern yourself with it.

I remember my friend saving up allowance when those things first hit the market and he ended up buying them. We never used them really, maybe for bullhead in the saltwater, but we just admired at how coool and how many of the incredible banjo minnows he had..

You can find better plastics though...Plus those things are dang expensive and if they can't get pro's and pro-staffs to like them/fish with em/represent them when they give them samples, they gotta do informercials as a last chance to get their product to the market...

I got the banjo minnow many years ago. I need to find where I stashed that crap. I bet the better color minnows will work on a drop shot.

The Banjo minnow is nothing but a scam, I think that they caught the fish on the infomercial with an actual good bait, and digitally edited it to look like the banjo minnow because no bass in it's right mind would think that bait looks real. Not even a blind bass!!
I'm glad I didn't waste the time or money on that crap!!

You would be better off tying a hook onto a real banjo and casting it out there than the "banjo minnow!!!"

As a rule, I stay away from any fishing product I see on an infomercial. The Pocket Fisherman, the Flying Lure (though it got me into backward rigging plastics), the Banjo Lure, and Roland Martin's Bazooka Pole. If any of these products were really credible, you would hear more of them in Bassmaster, F&S, FLW, and others. They are designed to catch fisherman and make money, any incidental catch made is just that. They excel at catching the nonfishing public, their target audience because most serious anglers look past the hype. But Grandma looking for a Christmas gift is their bread-and-butter payroll-maker.

Shoot! Now I have to throw away my Flying Lure set!

Fishing infomercials remind me of Roland Martin's fishing show. I love the guy, but he is the most shameless plugger of useless crap in the fishing world. He plugs everything from sunscreen to bait color selectors. It's hilarious! He's still a hero to me though, because he gets to fish for a friggin' living!!!!

Or what about crankbaits you often or used to see in the commercials for goofy fishing shows that had the blinking red light in them...
