Need a back-up LMB lake near Fall City/North Bend

Post by The Quadfather » Mon May 05, 2014 5:34 pm

I'm heading to Rattlesnake lake with my boss next Monday for some trout fishing via the fly rod. He was hoping to maybe hit a nearby lake for some LMB. Can anyone point me in the direction of a LMB lake in that area?
I'm talking anywhere near Fall City, Carnation, Issaquah, North Bend etc.
(Not Samammish)-- we are in float tubes that day.

We were considering Lake Alice, but most of the small lakes in the area, such as Alice, Langlois, Ames, etc. They all seem to have stinky bass reports.
If you don't want to say on the forum your recommendation, just send me a PM.
Thanks!

Pine Lake - Sammamish/Issaquah. Gas motors not allowed, but electrics are ok. So float tubes would be good. GREAT bass in there.

Of course, AMX! I should have known that.

The Beaver is real close to Pine, as a back up. Also no gas motors, that makes it float tube friendly too. If the parking is tough at Pine. Beaver lake is just 2 miles east of Pine.

Lake Alice actually does have some very nice bass in it, but 2 years ago they sprayed for weed control and I haven't hooked any since. I was thinking of starting again this year as from what i've heard, the bass go deep and won't come shallow until the chemicals have dispersed. Which I have also heard, takes about 2 years.

Langois is good for numbers, but not size. There are large bass in there but the water is so clear that they typically want nothing to do with what i'm throwing. The largest I've caught in there is between 1 and 2#.

Lake Joy just north of Carnation is also a lot of fun if you want smallies and largies like Pine.

Maskrods Slough & Rutherford Slough, near Fall City has some nice bass for the hand carried water craft.

Bob, Rutherford is no longer accessible. Some rather inconsiderate "gentleman" bought the access road and put up no trespassing signs all over the place. I hear he is quite the peach, prosecuting anyone that parks on the road or tries to ride their horse to the Snoqualmie trail.

I really wanted to fish that slough too, as I have heard great things about it. I keep trying to access it from 203, but just can't find a way in.

Also, where is Maskrods? I've fished Janicke and Stickney with limited success and Horsehoe and Meadowbrook. But am unfamiliar with Maskrods.

I haven't fished it in a few years but Tradition Lake east of Issaquah had nice bass. You need to carry your tube about half a mile.

Really nice of you all to post up with these out of the ordinary lakes.
I think we will start with getting our fly/trout game on at Rattlesnake, and the follow up lake being Pine. Hard to find a lake with so many species, as well as a smaller intamate lake that has smallies.

I fished Tradition Lake one time with my son. We drove right to the lake in a four-wheel drive pickup and launched a canoe. I caught a 22 inch, 6 pound, 4 ounce bass on a size 9 Rapala in the silver finish. That was May 7, 1980. Also at that time there was a lake in the same area named Round Lake that reportedly had bass. :fish:

Bob, I always enjoy your impeccable record keeping/documentation.
Some people can't pull up a photo from last Saturday, but you've always got the specifics and pics from 34 years ago.
Great logs you keep!

Thanks Quadfather. The record keeping was part of my enjoyment of Bass Fishing. At my ripe old age it sometimes is like fishing those lakes once again. My only regret is I didn't take more photos of the lakes and their surroundings.

Not to hijack, but if you ever get a chance to meet and talk with Bob, or even luckier to fish with this legend, it is enlightening to say the least. He has so much information on bass fishing and so many lakes. The man is a book of knowledge. I can't wait to meet up again.

That would be all my pleasure, Bassdood. If anybody on here pays much attention... Bob has written a LARGE percentage of the lake "Description" write ups, etc. He has covered the miles, that's for sure. =D>
