Bass Fishing Texas

Post by Dustin07 » Thu Apr 30, 2009 1:20 pm

I'm down in the Austin area now visiting a customer.... who offered to take us out on the boat for some bass fishing tomorrow! I'm very excited. Picked up a cheap Wal-mart rod and reel and a 1 day non-res license. Wish us luck, we'll take pics if we catch anything!

LOL! I can't wait! I almost got a second 1 day tag... might still.......... just for some evening fishing if I get a chance. My customer is supplying lures though so I only bought rods. I'll have to get a little tackle kit at the local wal-mart if I go tonight.

If the bass aren't cooperating, get them to take you down to Indianola and hit the redfish run. They should be stacking up all over the Gulf Coast right about now, and Matagorda Bay is one of the better redfish spots west of Pensacola.

We spent about 4hrs on Lake Georgetown and caught crappie, catfish, and one bass. My buddy has the pics on his iphone so I'll have him email them to me later. It was a ton of fun though and it knocked out one of the 12 lakes for me this year (goal to fish 12 new lakes in 2009). We had a great time, budlight lime, and ended the day with dinner at a local Cajun joint with alligator, frogs legs, and 6lbs of crawfish!

actualy I'm down here trying to open up a 2nd branch for our company and if it goes well, I'd like to get a duplex down here too. Half for the employee who's relocating, and half for me to visit!! This is my third visit to the Austin area in less than 12 months and I love this place. We spent last night on 6th street and today on the lake. It has everything.

If you are down in Austin again, Lake Belton is a better lake. It is only about 40 minutes away if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the tip! I will probably be down again this summer. We ate at lake travis too, I wouldn't mind fishing it. It's a beautiful lake.
