I have only been lake fishing the last couple of years and am good at catching trout, however i would like to learn how to bass fish, so i decided to get a few lures and give it a try. I need any tips and lure ideas that are going to help the most basic fisherman. I bought a few spinning lures and some gummy looking fish with a flasher on them. would like to know depths to fish for and bait and best habitats to fish for and casting and catching techniques.
thanks
Robert....by the way i do most of my fishing at American Lake in pierce county washington

This entire forum will give you more knowledge than you may expect. Rather than asking, spend a day reading every thread in here. You'll be 10 times more likely to catch a bass after that.

Bass fishing is for anyone who is willing to be a "work in progress". Read the forum and try things, but don't get fixated on any one lure or lake. Try different things and learn to correlate the presentation/lure with the conditions. This will help you pattern fish. Also, don't get fooled into thinking that catching lots of bass makes you a good bass fisherman. I started out with a #9 Floating Rapala, a 1/8 oz Stanley Spinnerbait, and a pack of Kalin grubs. I caught lots of of 8 to 13 inch fish. Don't stop there. Its one thing to catch lots of dinks, but its another thing to be able to consistently put 15 inch + fish in the boat. Stick to it!

Bruce Middleton has many good articles on bass fishing on this site that could help a lot. Bruce goes into a lot of detail on many bass fishing topics.
