Favorite lures and Favorite times to use them

My favorite lure as of right now would have to be the Rapala because it seems to produce fish in almost every month. The months I like to use rapalas is in the summer months because that is when I get more strikes off of them. In winter it is not as productive but if your lucky you might catch a few. I heard that senkos are the way to go but I have never had any look with them.

dont really have a favorite, although i prefer to fish poppers over trolling or casting towards structure with steamers.

Hey Lyndon, sorry buddy. I've been meaning to put something together for you in a PM. I was hoping someone would have helped you out with your last post, but I see no one replied. I will be the first to say, MY BAD. Won't happen again.
I think your last post was a real broad question and kind of hard to answer. You can't pin down a specific bait per month. There are to many factors that can change whats hot on the water from day to day. You can have a go to bait that can be more effective than others, but be conscious of when it is the most productive. Always try new things.
Asking specific questions on this forum is a good way to learn. And study, study, study. I always try to learn something new everyday. And weekly I will try something new on the water.

Now on to your topic question:
My favorite baits are senkos t-rigged or d-shot roboworms. I will use these from sun up to sun down if they are productive. But you have to feel out the day and the situation your in. Time of day, weather, pressure on the water, season, lake, structure ect. A lot to take in. Your low light situations are good for top water action (buzzbaits, poppers). Heavy cover, try pegged texas rigged stick baits or creatures. And the good old fashion jig is always a go to bait for me when I'm fishing structure and heavy cover.
I'd be interested in knowing what size bass you catch on that Rapala. I can see you catching a lot of bass but they are probably smaller, like 1lb or less. Throwing bigger stuff will produce bigger stuff. At least that's my philosophy. Don't give up on plastics. Try other lures too. Just keep at it. People who throw lures all the time can have a hard time adjusting to the pace of plastics. Slow is the way to go. You want to keep it in the stike zone as long as possible. Man, I can go on for days but I don't want to over burden you. Take in as much as you can and then go try it. If something doesn't work don't disregard it, maybe it just wasn't the right time.
Now I hope this stuff doesn't sound Japanese to you. If it does PM me and I will go into more specifics.
Hopefully others will continue to chime in and help you out. You in the right place brutha, just keep asking questions. I wanna see you on TV someday winning a tourney.

I agree with fishnislife. I always use a topwater bait (buzz bait, frog, or zara spook) first thing in the morning and then shift to a search bait that can cover a lot of water quicky (rat-l-trap or crankbait). If you have graphics on your boat it helps identify structure. Keep in mind that structure is not just brush piles and wood. Ledges and drop offs hold lots of bass. Grass and vegetation also can change your baits, for these areas lots of plastics t-rigged with a weight big enough to get through the mats. Also always have a senko tied on t-rigged and use that in the same spot right after a missed topwater strike. If it is windy and there is a ripple on the water, you have to use a spinner bait.

while your trolling motor is taking you along a shoreline, how do you fish senkos slow? i can only see working it slow when you anchor or fish from the bank. my "guide" buddy uses his troller slowly along the shoreline and i have to use cranks and topwater since i cant leave senkos down for too long before i drag it.

I love Rapalas. All different kinds. For me, they produce the most fish, all year. As far as my favorite, that depends on where I was fishing and what I was fishing for.

I really dont a favorite lure ..I try to provide as many different techics and lures at all times of year .. I would rather a day on the lake catching bass on 3 more baits over a day on the lake with just one (But i do have confident baits) ... I really do like the top water bite and the worm bite overall.. BBD:-"

CK14 took the words right out of my fingers. I will always throw a Perch colored Jointed Shad Rap by Rapala to start off the day, then switch accordingly.
Lyndon- There are so many rapalas out there, which one is your fav?

Favorite Lure??? For just plain ol' fun, I love throwing a Trophy Scum Frog in lily pads. For searching shallow water, I use alot of spinnerbaits. In timber, I crash Rat-L-Traps. I use alot of plastics, Senko's mainly except when flipping worms then I use Culprit worms and Baby Brush Hogs. Don't forget jig-n-pig in the spring. Topwater minnows at sunset in milfoil beds pitching and twitching the pockets.
No favorites here. I love 'em all!

There are different lures that work well for many applications. For this time of year I gave been catching alot of quality fish on the good ole Carolina rig with a creature bait. I also use the DT series rapala cranks, they have a great action and get to the depth advertised and stay there. I also like the new Glass Fat Rap in citrus shad for low light situations. But overall EXPERIMENT AND SEE WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.
