Gearing Up for Sockeye

Pink squid, #1o hooks, 5 oz triangle weight, sand shrimp. If I have it wrong please inform me of whats wrong. Gonna be in the boat and on the bank.

Red hooks with some pink Crystal flash tied into the bait loop, spin n glow. Thats how we do it on the quinault. I will be up there to give a shot.

Medium size in pink, orange, red, black or blue. they all hit fish last time

Only skagit river for sockeye, and then baker lake later in july! those are some of the only sockeye fisheries in Wa, besides columbia, and lake wenatchee!
There are some achievements which are never done in the presence of those who hear of them. Catching salmon is one, and working all night is another.

I normally go to spud bar to plunk the lower skagit, but it isn't open for sockeye. Does anybody know where to go above division street that won't be elbow to elbow? I have a feeling that edgewater park and the soccer fields will be packed... Where does one go to find some space?

Up in Sedro on the south skagit highway theres some pull offs that you can use to get away from the crouds

Hey Norm, got the clarification from the Bio/River Manager. What he says is yes the river is pretty much selective gear from the mouth to the Dam for the entire year. The exception being from June 14th to June 29th when selective gear is lifted from the 536 Bridge to Gilligan Creek. The night Closure is still in effect and there will be Anti-snagging in effect in addition to selective gear when it is in effect. So if you want to use bait on the Skagit, now is about the only time, starting on Sat. BTW still waiting for an answer via Email.....
