I was wondering what everyone else like to use as far as spinning reels? I only have one reel that was recommended to me at OE. I like my Pflueger Supreme because its only a tad over 9 oz and has large line capacity. I was able to spool on 15 and 20 pound line for king fishing. It can also downsize to 10-12 pound line for silvers and pinks. The Shimano Symetre looks very nice as well. Any Symetre reviews?

Of all mine, or that I have had, I like my Pflueger President best. I like the way it feels.

The President is a great real for the money. Very satisfied with mine, I'm a Shimano man too.

I'm another PFlueger President fan - I've got three, one 6720 for my ultralight trout setup and two 6730 that I have used for everything else - for the price they are great reels. I just bought a Diawa Tierra and it seems to be pretty good, but the jury is still out (all I have been able to do with it so far is cast, haven't fought a fish on it yet:-({|= ).

My Pflueger President's gears were corroded from using it in salt, going after Pinks, even though I rinsed it off after use.
If you plan on fishing in salt water, make sure to get a salt water model.
If you can afford it, I would recommend a Shimano Stradic.

I have also a Pflueger... The model I live by is the President XT. Next model up from the President. $80 and its one of the best multi species reel out on the market!
Don't know much about this reel, ratings are good and its on sale!

The Shimano Saros is pretty good. Comes with a spare spool so I can run braid, which is a plus +.

Sellis - The Pflueger Supreme XT that's on special at Cabelas is an old model. They came out with a new model for 2010. The newer model is also available at Cabelas. I think they are coming out with a higher model called a Patriarch.
I also have a President XT 30. It feels good to fish with. Its going to get spooled with Power Pro 6/20. Its going to be used mainly for bobber and jig/egg fishing.
My buddy is a Shimano man. He loves the Spirex. Its a spinning reel with a baitcasting handle.
What kind of line do people use with a 2500 series Shimano reels? Those holds approximately 140 yards of 8 pound line.
I got to talk with a Shimano Sustain owner today. He told me it still smooth after 2-3 years of usage.

a 2500 is better suited for small rivers and streams 10lbs line tops for steelhead ahd coho. if you are on shore but in a sled u can get away with a 2500. but i prefer the 3000 or the 4000 for everything. but i use mine for float fishing only. otherwise i am fishing baitcasters
