May 5 Chapter Tournament
All,
Our first tournament is rapidly approaching and I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on the details. Most of our members are making this a day trip with no plans of staying overnight. Those that are wishing to do so can camp at the adjacent camp grounds or contact the Mayfield Lake Resort and Marina. If you choose to stay at the Resort, be sure an tell them your fishing the Chap 57 Tournament and you may receive special pricing. After the Tournament we will have the opportunity to link up at the Viking Burger Café for a good ol' home town burger.
As for the Tournament itself:
-We will operating this Club Tournament from the county park boat launch located just off hwy 12.
-Registration will begin at 6am with the Tournament starting at 7am and running until 3pm.
-Entry Fee's are between $10 - $20... The last several years we have done $10 fee's, however, this year many members have asked that we raise this fee to produce a larger "pot". We decided that for this first Tournament we would set the fee based on what the anglers of that day decided ($10, 15 or 20). The optional side "pot" for BIG FISH will remain $10 and 100% optional.
This is a 100% catch and release Tournament, so ensure you have a working camera on-board for those Tigers. Also, remember to pack your tournament banner that is placed around the engine. This is a State requirement and the Chapter has a very limited number on hand.
If more info is needed, please call me at the number below.
Thanks

Re: May 5 Chapter Tournament
Talked with several people today and we are going to have an awesome turnout..... People must really be ready to shake off the winter blues and start FISHING..... If any of you out there are still wanting to come out but haven't had the time to become a member yet there is still time during registration that morning starting at 6am.
My gear is all packed up and I'm ready to go. My plans changed and I'll be heading down tomorrow and staying at the Mayfield Resort so if you have the time feel free to stop by....
See you all there

Re: May 5 Chapter Tournament
Had a great time!! Special thanks to Ed, I really enjoyed a day of chasing Musky with you. We flyfished for them all day and had some action too. We saw 10 Tigers with several exciting follows and takes but none landed, thats Musky fish'n. The weather was a mixed bag of mist, rain, a little sun it was 44 in the morning and 54 in the afternoon. Water temp. 46 to 48 and the fish were moving slowly for the most part. Had a nice dinner and company the night before at the chinese restraunt, glad to see Jack shaw up and talk Tigers. Mike and Dan ran a good tourney with Floyd winning it all (what a surprise). Nice way to start out 2012.

Thanks for the report Doug.
Re: May 5 Chapter Tournament
Sorry for the delay…….
This past weekend was our season opening Tournament on Mayfield Lake with 17 anglers coming out to participate. Many of us linked up Friday evening for dinner and some story telling around the campfire before retiring for the night.
Saturday morning we woke to less than perfect weather as we dealt with cool temperatures and rain before the sun began to shine though. The lake itself wasn’t much warmer with the average temp being in the mid 40’s for most of the day. All this combined with some stained water lead to some SLOW fishing without many opportunities. We pushed hard all day but in the end our good friend Mike Floyd was the only one able to find a tiger that was willing to take a chance and thus won the tournament with a good looking 37.75 Muskie. Mike also took home big fish honors along with a $50 gift certificate donated by our friend Ken from the Viking Café in Mossyrock.
Even though the weather and the Muskies didn’t cooperate as I would have liked, it was sure great to see everyone again and to get back out on the water. I want to thank all those that came out in support of this event and I appreciated the positive feedback I received about our Chapter. Now we all can look forward to some warmer weather ahead and start making planes for Lake Tapps in June.
Thanks again everyone
