Re: powerbait vs. lures or flies

When i troll flies on lakes, im typically using 3 weight with 4lb tippet, when i hook a regular 10"-12" trout it feels like i just hooked into an adult salmon, they fight so hard on such a light set up, and it is a blast, big number days 20+ fish per day at times, and the fights are incredible, i prefer the fly to lures, and prefer lures over bait, but i will resort to whatever tactic is nessesary if need be (within legal limitations) but what will make any of them even more fun is having an appropriate rod/reel/line combo. Ive seen guys lined up plunking power bait with 10' heavy action rods and 30lb test for trout, then ill hear them say stuff like "cant wait for salmon season, way more fun than trout fishing" meanwhile theyre reeling there line up, they have one on and didnt even know it, how fun could that be? I say its more a matter of creating more difficulty, to create a sense of accomplishment when you do succeed, so fly/ light rods is the most fun. Then ul spinning lures, then bait.
