Re: Weekend Trout Lake Recommendations?
Flowing has some big boys in it. You can troll but what I would do is before first light or just before sunset anchor just off the drop off at the WDFW launch and toss some worms back towards the launch or work some small jigs and or wooly buggers just off the bottom real, real slow and maybe a little slower the little bugs only move 6 to 8 inches every 30 seconds. If I didn't get a bite, I'd move around the north side a little bit at a time working it. SSSLLLOOOWWW.....

Cozmo,
I just read my last entry, and my reference to "motor boaters" (odd) was intended to be "water skiers", with the associated fast moving boats. My understanding of the regs is that this lake straddles 2 counties, and technically, only one allows the fast boats. Of course everyone closely adheres to the line!
What a difference a couple of weeks makes! Lake Leland, in Jefferson County (still closer to you than Panther) is finally starting to hit, if you know the spot. Surface temperature has picked up from 37-38 to 41-43, and that seems to be key. Most of the lake is still not hitting but I have been out there with a friend the last 2 weeks, and at one spot the 1st week we each got 4, and last Sunday we each got 2. All were in the 12"-14" range, were thick, and fighters! Both times we left because of the building winds. If there's a dry day this weekend we'll be there. Let me know if there's a chance you'll hit it and I'll tell you where your chances are best.

Re: Weekend Trout Lake Recommendations?
Flowing is not a problem for boaters and skiers, during the season they're limited from like ten to four and when the waterski camp is in session, they kind of take over the lake but you don't really want to fish Flowing at that time of year mainly due to water temp. Panther, I've never been real excited about, caught a few real small Cutties in the iron stained water but never anything of any size. Storm has some nice Cutts when they're in the lake. When they're in the lake.

Flowing would be the better choice. I haven't seen too many fishing though, so it's a bit early. WDFW starts stocking in March, so it should pick up. There's a free dock and parking at the east public access off Storm Lk road. The park at the W end of the lake charges $7.00 now. I stopped by there on Sat. afternoon and there were zero people. Another nearby lake is Roesiger that will get fish stocked soon and has good bank fishing at the park on the eastside of the lake.
