Not all Kokanee are tiny. Out of lake Roosevelt they grow to be a few pounds and every so often you can run into a few out of lake Stevens that are a pound or over. It all depends how well they are feeding and which body of water you are targeting them. For instance smaller lakes with smaller abundance of feed tend to grow smaller Kokanee while larger lakes with more abundant feed tend to grow bigger. they are great tasting and with a limit of ten at Stevens it can be a fun fishery at times.

Riffe has land locked silvers, kings and some steelhead as well.. Yes, there is a parasite is a lot of the fish, but they are safe to eat and not toxic to the fish. You'll find them in the body cavity if you gut them. I've found the silvers to be great but some of the kings can get a little mushy if not iced right away. That said, kok's land locked sockeye as mentioned aboved and completely different fish. You are missing out if your experience from Riffe shaped your point of view. Give kokanee a try in some other lakes and read the regs to find them. They are great and fun to catch!
