I don't know much about alkaline lakes but what would the water do to the aluminum frame of a pontoon boat or aluminum oar shafts. Any special care required with your gear after fishing the lake besides just washing your stuff down with clean fresh water?

(Maybe we need a topic called "Stupid Questions"...I'll start!)

No worries. The PH of these lakes may be more basic (verses neutral of acidic), but it is not that strong.

Fish like normal, treat your aluminum like normal, no issues.

Cool! thanks for the info, drove past Lenore this weekend coming back from Banks. I've always wanted to try the Lahonton Cut fishing there.

You will get a white deposit on the boat. At least I did on my pontoons. It does was off though.

You might want to be careful what you dump into the lake. The DOD had a grand ole' time there in 1947.

It's amazing what they used to do to the "waste lands" back in the day!
