Tent camping with good fishing on the westside - recommendations

Post by Firetiger » Sat Jul 07, 2007 9:44 pm

Partner can't fish Eastern Washington because of the heat. Just too hot! Looking for a lake on the westside with tent camping (park or resort) and good fishing. Bass, trout or whatever.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Flowing lake in Snohomish county has a county park on the north end that has tent camping and it has both bass and trout. Also Cranberry lake on widbey island is right next to deception pass state park which also has tent camping. This lake also has both trout and bass, also some really nice browns.

Mayfield Lake has a camping area. The lake has some nice trout in it and also they have muskies and bass and other species also but we only fished there for trout when we went camping there. A close lake by there also is Swofford Pond that you can go fish at, there are largemouth bass, perch, channel cats, trout, and I think they have bluegill in there too. Swofford Pond is connected by Riffe Lake which have trout, kokanee I believe, smallmouth bass,I'm guessing they also have largemouth, and I think they have crappie in Riffe also.

Cranberry Lake, near Oak Harbor has a State Park with camping, a fishing dock, some shoreline fishing and boat rentals. The lake has some large brown trout and rainbows.

If you are more interested in fishing then camping mineral lake is a must. The camping isnt very good at all, but the fishing is well worth it, it gets a lot of fish plants and the lake just got a small plant. Mineral is in lewis county. In thurston county, there is Millerslyvaina state park on deep lake. Very beutiful state park on a good little lake. Near deep lake is offut lake wich is a great lake as well as mcintosh. Mineral lake has a bunch of rainbows and some browns. Deep has rainbows, Largemouth, perch, blugill and bullhead. Offut has rainbow and cutthroat, perch, bass, and bluegill. Mcintosh has rainbows, triploids and bass as far as I know of

Jefferson County's Lake Leland has some good fishing for several different species of fish including largemouth bass and has a county park with camping just across the road from the WDFW public access.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

What's wrong with the camping at Mineral Lake? I was thinking of taking the SO there for a camping trip.
