Tow Clip on the Bow... Repair?

So, what was the cause of the slippage? I cannot imagine that there would be any with tight metal and fiberglass unless the glass gave away??

it reads to me that the wood/plywood backing plate the bow eye was attached to gave way under the heavy load. replaced with a new metal backing plate, and all is repaired .
