Yeah sorry I did confuse you.... Hehehe none the less, there's a reason you don't see greased bearings on high service/commercial rigs anymore. Outdated technology.

NOT CONFUSED.....ease of maintenance is not allways better or safer....semis are certainly not safer thats like an oxymoron but i can see why you agree.

I can buy that but I don't think I've ever seen a semi wreck because they lost a bearing. That's usually some cheap @#%@% putting retreads where they don't belong or neglecting the scheduled maint.
The real take away should be that oil bath bearings are sealed, they don't let water in. Water would be the main cause of bearing failure, grease or no. Because of that there is very little chance of bearing failure. Believe me I've seen about every kind of bearing failure out there. I had one truck take a hit from the side by a loader and cracked the cap. The truck ran for a day before comming back to the shop. I don't know how long it took for the oil to run out but it was a simple, new seal, new cap and press and tap the races in place, filler up and go. The bearings weren't even bad but you replace all the pieces when it comes apart.

Commercial rigs don't experience the warming of bearings along with the rapid cooling of backing into the lake.
Oil bath you only have a short distance to run if you are in trouble- a leak.
If you do a walk around and notice you have a leak= red flare!

Not true. I drove from here to Banks Lake with a leaking inner seal. Then from Banks to Spokane to get it fixed with no problems. Did lose a little oil on the way there,but still had more than the minimum. With Bearing Buddies you would not have had to make that run. Newer trailer with a leak?

If your brakes are adjusted properly there should be no issue. I've driven to Rufus in the middle of the summer and dumped it right in. People..... with greased bearing have told me that you can't back right in, because they will suck in water. Phooie! To prove my point further, any big gravel truck, AKA a semi and or dump truck with trailer has to drive through a wash tank before hitting the road to clean the undercarriage of rocks and mud. They do it many times a day. I've seen no evidence that any of the wives tails concerning oil bath hubs are true.
That said, I won't say they are un-fallible as they are a mechanical device, they just fail a lot less.

Today I took my boat and trailer to my buddy’s house to check the bearings and seals. The bearings looked great so we re-packed them and replaced the seals. Good to go now for many years to come. Thanks for the reminder. Glad I now have peace of mind.
