FishFinder replacement

I have (errr.... had....) a Lowrance x52 fishfinder on my boat. After the first trip of the season i handed it to the second mate and she might have managed to drop it on the sidewalk, shattering the plastic casing. The unit lights up but the display is dead. It was a sad sad day until she said 'well I suppose you have to buy a new one right?'

OH YEAH.

So I've been doing research for a few weeks, and I'm on the verge of buying one the next time I see it on sale (which might not be until fall) -- the Lowrance i522 w/GPS or something in that range with GPS.

The real purpose of all this ranting comes down to this:

I have a 200khz through-hull transducer, so it looks like it's just a swap of the mounting hardware and away I go. It seems all Lowrance fishfinder units use either the 200 or 50khz transducers, so it shouldnt be a big deal. Does anyone have any experience with an upgrade like this? Should I expect to have to replace my transducer?

Almonst all finders come with a 'ducer. Just make sure the new one you buy is compatable with your original 'ducer and all should be well. Hmmm maybe I will grease my old finder and then hand it to my wife and hope for similar results:)
