Gun Storage
I have a need of gun storage for a little while. I'm helping a friend out. I'm not alowed to have firearms on my property. I was wondering if there is a place to store weapons much like a safe deposit at the bank.I dont want to sell my pistols or rifles . I just want a place to keep them safe.

Re: Gun Storage
Safety deposit box is probably your best spot unless you have a trusted friend or family member who has a safe you could put at their house. Legal and liability says a safe deposit box.

ok... walk into a bank with a firearm and see what happens.... you can not keep a firearm in a safe deposit box at a bank... you could pawn them for cheap and go get them back after 90days... cheap storage...

Oh please! I've kept guns in a safe deposit box for years, give me a break! Do you think you need to walk in waving them around? At the police station? Really? You gotta be kidding, that's the last place and people I want to be in charge of and able to touch my gun.

These aren't pistols ,they are rifles.Pistols no problem. I think Im gonna go buy a gun safe for my office at work and lock them up. I have some real nice older firearms that I wont part with. I dont want to call the PD and ask them. With all the shootings you hear about in the news Id hate to end up being investigated. Im gonna try a few ranges and see what they offer.

Re: Gun Storage
A safe at your office sounds like a good idea, a lot more fits in a stand up gun safe than a few rifles. If you have space in a closet for one even better. A safe is an investment, it will be with you forever. One tip, if it has an electronic lock like a lot do these days make sure it doesn't have volatile memory. My mother in law has to call the safe guy to come out when ever she forgets to change the battery.... Poooof combination gone.

Re: Gun Storage
If the safe doesn't work out, some of the shooting ranges advertise firearms storage though I've never used it.
Re: Gun Storage
Del's Feed stores even sell good Cannon safes. Buy one bigger than you think you need because you will end up wanting a bigger one. Kind of like 2 footitis with boats.

Re: Gun Storage
Hey Rac.... If you are at all worried about them being messed with at your work, let me know... we can put an alarm and dialer on the safe itself.... That and if you can. make sure to bolt it down or secure it good.... My buddy had his whole 42 gun safe ( with all his guns ) stolen out of his house..... They took the whole thing.....
Re: Gun Storage
Chongo what'd they have a fork lift drive in and take the whole thing?
Re: Gun Storage
Not sure . but we were assuming they had a couple of strong guys and a heavy furniture dolly... We moved his new one with 3 of us and my suburban so its not that hard....SoDakboy wrote:Chongo what'd they have a fork lift drive in and take the whole thing?
Re: Gun Storage
Usually when that happens it is an inside job. I hear about it happening a lot. I sell safes at cabelas. Always tell people to bolt them down. But even so a friend of my dads had his 64 gun safe stolen.
