anybody use the powerpro super slick braid? im thinking of spoolin up my chronarch with some 30lb or 40lb, in either the brown or green. seems really smooth which would help with casting distance and smooth, silent retrieves.

I bought some this season for my Steelhead casting setup. I'd previously been using the original PP and found it would ice up very quickly in sub-freezing temps to the point it was unusuable. A friend said the superslick fared better. It still freezes, but not nearly as fast or bad as the original. I can't say if it's increased my casting distance, but I did not notice that braid "buzz" through the eyes when fighting a fish. FWIW. I like it well enough that I'm leaving it on.

I love it. I use the 40 lb blue color for the Hump. Smooth casting, nice flotation, and the blue color really stands out so I can track my line when drift fishing. I'm a fan.

My biggest issue with it...it's expensive!

I've got it on my float rod (40#) and spoon rod (30#) it is working great for me.

so the 30lb on a baitcaster had no problems with digging in or anything? when i used the regular powerpro the 30 seemed to not dig in too much as long as i wound the line on tight of course, and what color is better for like stealth and blending in? the light green or brown?

I haven't had a problem with digging in with the regular or Super Slick in the #30. As far as blending in, I have never bought it to blend in just because I always have flouro leader on it so cannot help you there.

yeah i always use a leader too, but im paranoid that somehow the fish will see past my leader and see my main line, especially if i use high vis haha,

I used it and hate it. stick with the regular powerpro

It frays to easy, knot strength is terrible, and it will come apart if you float fish with it

Strange...I've not experienced any of those issues and I've gone through multiple spools for multiple reels. Hasn't let me down yet. I use the standard palomar knot.

I haven't either, but also am using the 30#. I did hear that the red 20# had some problems, but don't know if that's been resolved.

I love the stuff I've been using 10 and 30 pound. It is slick though you can't cheat or be careless with yout knots.

Sounds like me when I tried that P Line Hydrofloat. I couldn't get it off my rig fast enough, but others love it.

So far I haven't experienced that with the Super Slick, but then you've got a ton more miles on your rigs than I do (jealous? heck yeah I am ).

I used the blue 65# for tuna last year, kicked ass! I did a little testing, it did fray on the teeth if tied direct to the hook. I've heard where others using other braids didn't experience this... but the majority use a mono top shot any way.. Tuna didn't care about color.

There is a lot of fake power pro out there... you can verify at PPs website... careful where you buy it.

yeah ive heard of those chinese knock off powerpros! the boxes look just like the old boxes used to but have horrible strength, ill be getting mine at sportco or cabelas, since they both have the same price for it

A buddy of mine just turned me on to the "offset" braid. He's been using it for a while now and it hasn't failed him. 300 meters (327 yards) for $10. We'll see how it goes. It's done well for my buddy so far.

I have had people have good luck with the Superslick, on their casting reels. I spooled 4 spinning reels with 20# and 4 with 30# and both of them gave me hell. When twitching jigs the line wouldn't lay on the spool right causing knots that I would have to cut off. When float fishing with several different floats the line would snag causing a huge mess. I lost count the number of times I would set the hook and my line would just snap. In the middle. Not on a knot.

So after about 2 months of trouble I emailed powerpro and sent them a sample of the line to be tested off of every reel. The replied back that they found no problems with the line, and that the line was designed for bass fishermen and is not recommended for the way that Steelhead/Salmon fishermen fish and that I should stick with regular braid. Now I am back to high-vis power-pro with a 6' mono top shot and I couldn't be happier with that set up.

Although I didn't give it nearly as much of a chance as you did. It laster 30 minutes on one spool.

well i got some 30lb green super slick on my chronarch, and boy is it casting great, just took it out to a huge empty field and let it rip, hopefully this great first impression lasts

I haven't tried it on a spinning reel... it should be real smooth on your baitcaster... keep an eye out for abrasion... catch it before it breaks, retie... from what I have seen in the short time I've used it, it abraids a bit easier than standard PP. But, it is smoooooth! Enjoy

I just say no to PowerPro in general. Bad QC all around, just been stung too many times.
