I do believe a lot of pink salmon pass by there. Try Buzz Bombs from the beach. Crabbing can also be excellent.

if we are good to are lakes and streams they will be good to us
RE:Kayak Point
I believe salmon opened up today (Aug 1st). Buzz bombs off the beach or if you are a fly flsherman then try for humpies with a sinking line and any red or pink streamer. Last time this area was open for humpies it was awesome. Huge schools of fish out there. Just for fun go on the pier and watch the schools pass under.

Check the regs carefully. Pinks headed for the Skagit are very protected this year due to flooding two years ago.

My brother fishes there a lot with smelly shrimp.. not sure the official bait name but it's like stinky crawfish heh. He also uses worms that you buy in the powerbait section. He seems to always catch things there.
RE:Kayak Point
Kayak Point is in marine area 8-2 and is open for 2 salmon plus an additional 2 pinks. They've closed marine area 8-1 this year to the taking of pinks and chinook but you can still take 2 silvers (August 1-September 30).

So if I fish for Salmon I should fish off the beach not the pier? What color Buzz Bombs should I use?
RE:Kayak Point
Pink buzz Bomb. Its not real deep there either and I have found lots of seaweed in this area when fishing out front of the dock in my boat. Just remember, pink salmon, pink lure.
RE:Kayak Point
If you fish off the pier be prepared to walk the fish you hook down the pier to the beach. Kind of a pain but it works. I like fishing off the beach personally. Pink buzz bombs are the standard down there.
