Hey Gregg, well I can't find anywhere that states a starting time so hard to see how they can write a ticket if it's not in the rules plus I've seen pots out there at daybreak at Redondo all the time when I have fished there in the past.

If there is a time limit, then how can people leave their pots in over night?

A little late, but I found this on the WDFW site:
"Crab fishers may not set or pull shellfish gear from a vessel from one hour after official sunset to one hour before official sunrise. All shellfish gear must be removed from the water on closed days"

It says "from a vessel"...what about dropping a ring from the piers? Same time constraints I would assume?

You can only leave them over night when it is open the next day. If you are in a boat you can't drop them in later than one hour after sunset (on an open day).

As far as opening day the way I read it the opener was one hour before sunrise on July 3 this year. It drove me nuts looking for the 07:00 that I new I had seen before. My pots were in the water around 6 AM.

I had the same problem! I searched and searched and it doesn't say 7am anymore. They should of made it more clear if they were intending to change the start time. I like the extra time though. :fish:
