Redondo Launch - Parking? Pressure?

Post by Onmygame » Tue Jul 12, 2016 11:12 am

Am planning on launching at Redondo this Thursday - and aim to soak a few crab pots along with doing some trolling between soaks.

I've never launched there before - in fact drove out there a week and a half ago with the Mrs to scope it out a bit.

It looks as though the truck and trailer lot across the street has limited parking, with the bulk of it closed off due to either construction or damage?

I also noticed a half dozen rigs or so parked along the road up the hill a bit on the shoulders of both sides of the road. Are they there die to lack of parking, or as a way to avoid launch fees? It looks like you pay to park there in the lot - so not sure about those who park roadside.

I'd hate to get there between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. only to find that there is no parking available - anywhere - and have to turn back to say,.. Pt Defiance.. another option for that day.

Any first hand input would be welcomed.

On a Thursday, you should be fine. I've been hitting it on the weekends and getting there at 0500 to ensure I get a spot.

The launch is easy, but can be an adventure with a stiff wind. It's $10 to park the rig and trailer and the lot is easy to navigate.

Good luck crabbing. It's flat out sucked. I've been all over and haven't found more than 2 keeper dungees a day. I caught a shaker on the west side of Vashon Sunday too. There's life but you gotta hunt for it.

Just an FYI - Don't try to skip out on paying the launch fee and park on the roads. There are signs in the area stating any vehicle with an empty trailer will be ticketed if it doesn't display a valid launch receipt. People seem to forget that in almost all cases, you are paying to use the launch, not the parking lot.

I parked my suv and boat, walked down to survey the launch and was given a ticket. It was not a busy day but apparently the town needs to shake down people for silly and petty violations.
SinceI am coming from Lacey, I've chosen to launch at Point Defiance and run up in my boat. I won't give them another penny..

Sorry to hear that. Did you park in the parking lot or side of the road? PD is closer anyway and a better launch.
