Reports have been posted; I hope I can edit 'em later to add pictures when they're available.

Cold was fierce today; Biggest problem was keeping my hands warm and still maintain some sort of manual dexterity. Might have to spring for some sort of propane heater, but I like to travel light.

When I go Ice fishing the first parts of my body that get cold are hands, then feet. So lately I've been putting these Warmers in each boot at the front by the toes and in my pockets. Keeps my feet warm for 8 hours + of ice fishing, and when my hand get cold, I put them in my coat pockets and warm them up with the heaters.

Ok... I know that I'm starting to sound like an advertisement for this site but your guys have got to check out yourbobbersdown.com I just bought one of their balances (a custom spring bobber) and some of the Atomic Nuggies in chartreuse. I tried them out on Eloika just yesterday and I was pulling out fish after fish while others watched. I fished only 10 feet from another guy who did nothing all day. That spring bobber is so sensitive...i think I actually was setting the hook before a fish was in the area. I was using a Fiskas jig in chartreuse and white with a nuggie, no live bait. Just a thought if you all want to try them out. Pretty cheap too... just have to wait for shipping.

A long time regular at Silver told me there's walleye in the lake - no kidding. I think the perch are fun and all, but getting some walleye would be great. Anybody know how to jig for 'em under the ice? We're not in Idaho and can't put out 5 tip-ups, so...

Jay. In regards to the Walleye, I do know that Liberty has a good population of them. I have been thinking about trying them through the ice but have no idea how to go about it. I may have to google it and give it a whirl. Anyone know how the ice is on Liberty?

fish4brains - Unfortunately, Liberty's been closed to fishing since Oct 31 and won't reopen until March 1. Wealthy lakeside homeowners won't want to ice skate into 10" holes.

Thanks Jay. Right after my post I went and looked at the regs then went, D'oh! That is lame since the ice fishing on that thing would be awesome.

With all of the recent warm weather, please post as many ice reports here as possible. If you find areas of weak ice, or open water that may get a small layer of ice at night, please let others know. Hopefully we get some colder weather to freeze things up again, but in the meantime, take it slow and be smart.

Has anyone been up to Eloika recently? I would like to know how it is holding up after all of this. Before I left for Wisconsin (where there is 3 feet of ice in most areas=) this lake had over 12" of solid ice, but the landings have running/ open water near them. Is it still accessable? Any news about Jerry's landing and how the ice is there? Anything helps!

Are there any bodies of water in the Spokane area that hold walleye or northerns? I'd really like to catch a northern pike. Since tiger musky are all catch and release (who's gonna catch a 50" plus musky?).

That's what I was planning on. Rewatched the Youtube video on how to fillet northerns in anticipation.

Silver's 3-5" inches right now. Bring your life spikes if you're gonna venture out onto the ice.

Was hoping for open water with all this warm weather, but Silver's got 2" of clear ice. I wouldn't break my own rule of 4", but saw evidence of fresh holes out on the ice. If you don't mind the off-chance of taking a swim and/or losing gear, then 2" would probably be OK; I hope whoever's still fishing out there is wearing some sort of flotation gear.

Any reports on Eloika? I'm going through fishing withdrawal. Where do you go to get Idaho fishing reports? I might spring for the $100 license if the itch gets bad enough...

Yeah. I was curious about Eloika so I emailed Jerry's landing. The report is open water near shore which makes it difficult to get onto the ice. I'm sure there is still about 5" or better on the lake. The trouble would be reaching it. Bring a canoe or something I guess. I really wanted to go last weekend, but no dice.
