How to disassemble a Shakespeare 1788 HD Model EC reel?

Post by bluebiller » Thu Jul 16, 2020 7:25 pm

Does anybody know about any help with the disassembly/cleaning (hopefully with pictures) on a Shakespeare 1788 HD Model EC fishing reel? I have a schematic, but that doesn't answer the actual assembly process, only serves as a parts list with picture.
I'm not sure how to put it back together again! and YouTube didn't have any help.

Any ideas? Thx.

Maybe the company can help, call them and try. The Shimano company has been helpful to/for me, maybe the Shakespeare company will be.

thanks Amx!
Ok, the latest is I was able to miraculously assemble it back together in a workable condition! EXCEPT .... there is no anti reverse mechanism within this reel (that I know about anyway). With a proper drag setting, I should be ok, but there's got to be a anti reverse on this reel. There are no switches/levers to turn to accomplish this.
I'll try to call Shakespeare ........

Oh, any Forum thoughts/help? Has anyone owned one before that might confirm?
Thanks.

Done! It's working! Lets go fishing!

So I called Shakespeare and they were worthless on any help. They did give me another phone number for tech help in Des Moines, Iowa and they too, were worthless. I just figured it out on my own after several attempts.

Ok, have a great day!
