I know this reply is late, but someone else might want to know at some point.
My girlfriend and I fished the bank of the river in town. She caught a bass with a nighcrawler and trout ball.
That evening, we both chucked lures (with lunker weights so we could get them out farther) from the dock at 25 Mile Creek State Park. I got a rainbow trout off my rapala lure, and she got a pikeminnow off her wedding ring.
Get a canoe or something that floats if you can. Paddle about 200 yards and try jigging. Use shrimp scent.

I'll give advise for future reference too. I have fished in town up from the dam on the north shore to campbells. I have used gitzits and slayed the bass! Up lake I have fished from the state park and casted out rooster tails and have done well with the rainbows... But the Smallies are great down by Campbells!
