trouble with PM's via smartphone

Post by The Quadfather » Sun Feb 26, 2012 10:21 pm

Has anybody else out there noticed any difficulty with sending PM's using their smartphone?
I have sent a couple of PM's to people (who I think would respond if they got them)... but never got any response. I have not done a test message to a regular friend, but I am thinking that for some reason these PM's are not getting to the recipient.
I also notice that via the smart phone I cannot go into the the tab for "Reports" and then click into recent reports. If I click Reports.... I keep getting pushed into that page that shows you all of the choices.... freshwater, rivers, salt, etc.

I'm sure Aaron would say this is coding issues between smartphones and regular browsers, which is what the site is coded for. At the risk of being redundant, I'd suggest sending Aaron a pm about it if he doesn't respond here.

Was there a fix to this problem? I'm having similar issues. I can bring up the latest reports page, but all the image links are broken on the far left of the page and nothing will open up. I'm using a droid smart phone on my laptop and PC, Win.7 64 bit on both PC's for internet.

I had a private message in my In Box that should have gone to some one else, so there's something goofy going on. Thanks for checking into this. I'm missing the Lastest Reports page.....:)

Fish on dude,

No Aaron has never chimed in on this one. Glad that you resurrected it. So the deal is,, from my phone I cannot send PM's. Or at least they don't get through to anybody. Also, when I click on the reports header, and then I would want to scroll down to "Latest reports" etc. I have no drop down menu. The reports header just goes to the page with the fish. The one that offers you a choice of Lake report, river report, saltwater, etc. etc. there are prob. other things that are not available, but I haven't looked further.
Aaron hope you see this. It would be nice if this stuff could be made available via smartphone. A lot of times if one is in the field, you could access info. on a lake/river etc. Put a report in right on the water.

Thanks for the update. I thought it might be a browser problem for me, but have tried various other browsers (Chrome, IE) and same deal. I'm using Firefox on laptop and PC. Never occurred to me it was my phone (HTC Inspire) till I saw your post. I can get to the Latest Reports page, but it won't load completely. All the links to access the reports are broken. As far as I can tell everything else is working ok. I've rarely been on here the past 6 months because of this, so haven't kept up on what's going on.

PS: If this could be a phone problem, I would think the first step would be phone model, OS and version. When trouble shooting these types of issues the more information and the greatest detail is always a help.

Chris, I just sent you a PM via my Samsung Focus running Windows 7.5 "Mango" What version browser do you have on your phone? Or I guess what V of HTML does it support. Mango does HTML 5 and I see the message in the outbox.

I cannot reproduce a single one of these problems on my phone or PC(s).

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with Chrome(v17), IE(v9), Android 2.3.6 on a Samsung Galaxy S II (Epic 4G). I just sent a PM.

Perhaps someone could post their specific information here, with some screenshots. Screenshots of the entire browser please.

The reason I ask is that there are many report pages... and I have no idea which one you are looking at or if they are all broken. What links do you click to get to that page?
