Wildlife rescue at fish lake
Wildlife rescue at fish lake
Well I was fishin with my old man at fish lake in chelan county yesterday. 4 hrs of fishin for a bunch of bites an only a perch an a trout. Went to start bombin to the east side of the lake on the other end. An me an my dad saw something swimming in the lake an thought if was a duck. But then saw it was a mule deer fawn the lake is about 1/4 of a mile wide at that end. The fawn is only 2 months old. An that's along distance for them. We watched it to make sure it made it across an it did. But we started trolling back to the launch an thought the fawn was gone but got down to where it came out at an there it was shivering an scared. I wanted to help. But didn't know the best action. So I called the wildlife rehabber I volunteer at an they told me if Mama wasnt around an I could catch it with out stressing it out to much to get it. So I called wdgf officer I know an she said to go for it. So trout net in hand me an my dad did. So we started motoring to it. I got in the shollows an started to do what I'm trained to. He freaked out an ran around me to another wall of brush. Then I chased it to where it was. It ran again an thought for sure I would lose it so I pushed it back out into the water. He started swimming back across. He got 100 ft before we motored to him. But got within netting distance an I netted him. Me an my dad lifted him in the boat an did what I learned at sarvey wildlife covered his face an restrained him. An now he is being rehabbed at sarvey. I am proud to say I am happy me an my dad took action. He was thin an dehydrated. But is in good hands. PLEASE NOTE NEVER TAKE A FAWN WITH OUT KNOWING IF IT'S ORPHANED. THIS ONE WAS FORSURE
