WOO! Promotion baby!
WOO! Promotion baby!
Well I found out today that I have (finally) been selected for promotion to E-5/Staff Sergeant. I'll admit, with 6 1/2 years in the Air Force I'm a little behind the curve but that's alright. I don't think I was ever really ready for it before.

Congrats man The worst part is waiting for DFAS to actually start paying you... My years as an E5 in that Navy were probably my most fun- enough rank to get out of some mundane work, but not enough to get harassed about making Chief by the E7's. I thought of it as the "stealth" rank although it really was the true working rank/backbone of the submarine force.
So... are you doing 8yrs or going for the whole enchilada? (once you hit your 3rd enlistment you might as well do the full twenty+)

Congratulations Gotcha, I was in the service about 22 years ago, and I understand that rank doesn't necisarrlily (sp?, ouch) come when you expect it, it depends on your MOS, (job). But going to E-5 is a big deal in the army. You are finally out of all the lousy details, and like you said not quite in position maybe of extreme scrutiny.
Stay well.
Stay well.

RE:WOO! Promotion baby!
I was in the USNavy also,..80-84,..made 2 Wespac trips and E-5 in 4 years,..what was funny is I was a Boatswainsmate,..do you know how many of those there are,..OMG,..I was very suprised to make 2nd Class Petty Officer in 4 years,..unheard of but I guess my timing was right. I served on the USS Constellation and at the time it was the biggest Conventional Aircraft Carrier in the world,..in the early 80's the Goverment only had a couple of Nuclear Carriers in Operation,..now Conventional Carriers are all in mothballs,..I can see how making E-5 in any branch of service is important and hats off 2 you Gotcha for achieving that,..just watch your 6 bro and our Prayers will be with you and your family. Thank you and Fam-Bam for your service!
