So tax cuts and government funding should be on the back burner instead?

I don't see anything in that article saying they would refuse to work on unemployment benefits, it just says they will not work on them UNTIL those other issues are fixed.

Your post is very CNN/Fox fear-monger like to me.

I'm sure that unemployment is the #1 issue to the 10% of the workforce that are currently unemployed, but GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN without a budget in place, and that affects 100% of us. The tax cuts thing is important to a lot of people too, and maybe unemployment should come before that, but geez man, you act like they are doing this just to hurt people.

Simple fact is, if they don't do it, those things likely will not get fixed prior to the senate adjourning.

As of april 30th 2011 there will be no more EUC compensation. Youll get your first run of unemployment but that is it. If for any reason you cant get a job then youre screwed. Hit up welfare at that point and continue looking for work. I got my letter in the mail a few days ago.

They passed this pretty fast.

Pooh, I don't think they actually 'passed' anything, I thought it was more an issue of NOT passing another extension.
