I've seen a few rigs backed into the drink, but that's something special right there

Retrieval of boat: Do everything in reverse of launching. Guess this guy took it a little to literal!

That is Point Defiance. There is hardly any parking so he found some.

Many gm full size trucks in that body style 1999 to 2007 had a recall (few years ago?) on the parking brake cables due to stretching. This also caused the park brake to drag, and use up the parking brake shoes. Just a heads up to all of you pulling a boat with a similar truck. (tahoe, suburban, silverado, sierra, yukon, etc...) Cant remember exact years or models, but check with a gm dealer and see if your covered if your having weak p-brake problems.

Wonder if there was a palm plant in the tow vehicle.

Someone on Ifish asked a very good question - where is the boat?

So, am I missing something? Parking brake issues or not, in my experience I aways work with the water (behind) the boat.
Seriously, what do you suppose he was doing?

Someone on Ifish said they were there at the time.
Lots of interesting conjecture......but his wife did it! I happened to be down there and it was quite a show with five cop cars, two tow trucks and two divers plus the news helicopter overhead. Story from the guys at the Point Defiance Marina was that husband/wife team had launched their boat and he asked for some help with it. Wife left the vehicle and it subsequently went down the ramp.
Not sure how it got in what appears to be a nose down the ramp configuration but that is the story. When I drove by all that was visible was the top of the vehicle and the kayak racks.
Their insurance company won't be happy but no one physically injured.....feelings may be another matter.
Still begs the question - how did the truck get nose first in the water?

Wow, those ramps do get slippery during major tide exchanges like we had that day. Sounds like the truck floated a bit and most likely caused it to turn around, or just the way the dive team hooked it up? Who knows but it does suck no matter who it happens to. Glad no one was hurt.

If it had floated and turned around the trailer would not be up the ramp? Unless they got ahold of the trailer and drug it up? It IS weird.
My emergency brake did not work on an old International PU I had. I would just stick it in 'Granny' gear (compound low for you young'ns...) to lock it up and all was good. Well, usually. Was on a steep ramp with my Uncle launching his heavy boat and it was taking longer than usual. Was standing in the box and took a step to the back of the box and stepped in water! Panic ensued. Got it up the ramp but it was very, very close.

This happened to my mate when I was a noob. Anyways launched the boat and tied it off, parked the truck and walked back to the boat and released it had a dead battery, I suggest we take off truck battery "nah he said I'll nose the truck in and we will use jumper cables". So he goes to get the rig put its front tires in to the water up to the middle of the wheel, throw on the E-brake gets out opens the hood to connect the jumper cables. meanwhile a small but big enough wake comes along lifts the truck up and off it floats. I'm laughing typing this as it is comical looking back, it unfolded at such a slow pace yet there was nothing we could do except watch it sail away.

You very well may have nailed the story here, Sickbayer.
