NO this is ridiculous, its people like you that keep me from the bass forum. This guy did nothing wrong and you called out his secret lake and then flamed him. I am a a fishermen, law abiding citizen, and a conservationist. According to my standards this guy did nothing wrong, and you should be ashamed. Your "venting" goes against site policy and you should be banned. Go ahead and change the subject of your original thread...whatever helps you sleep at night

That's what I'm talking about! Take your energy, your passion, and make a differnce. Use this web site to organize like minded individuals and make it real, not some web site rant that may satisfy your initial frustration but does nothing to change the situation.

Look at what the muskie guys did with the new 50" size limit on muskies. We live in an amazing country where people CAN make a difference. They just have to have the will, the certainity of your convictions, and the commitment to do it.

So go do it.
sorry Mike (not trying to undermind you) but you posted your post while I was working on mine. But you said it right. W/o chapter 57 there would still be a 36" muskie size limit. Those darn muskie guys may be limited in numbers, but they make up for it in passion for the sport. Bass arnt my forte, but I will back the bass guys til the bloody end, so dont talk about it, be about it and I will be there for my fellow fishermen, but dont flame the legal fishermen

No your right, that isnt ban material, but he was taunting that in his original post. I dont want any problems with any WAlakes member, but I also want to protect WAlakes members and the guy w/ the report needs someone to protect him on this topic. No hard feelings to anyone, but we are a fishing community and we have better people t "fight" then ourselves...

Not sure if my venting was the correct action , but I tell ya what ,, I felt a lot better after lol . It was enlightening. Sorry to anyone I offended and yes I did draw conclusions. I think my efforts would be better served lobbying the wdfw to ban the retention of LMB over 12" from lakes less then 500 surface acers or all together , exept in the event of a officialy orginized fishing derby/tourney . I think thats where I'll take my argument.

james griffin I'm really sorry for personally attacking you. I was out of line to draw conclusions and to not even take a carefull read of your report. Maybe you changed it , I'm uncertain , but it was still out of character and out of line and for that I do apologize.

Thanks BB , not sure I deserve props for manning up , but I do appriciate it.

Its healing well from surgery , but I dont think they fixed it right. I can fish though , I hit dolloff tonight and picked up a few frog fish. I'm looking to hit one of those lakes too tomorrow. I wont be up early though lol . Maybe I'll run into ya =) .

I believe that once a report is submitted, the poster can't change it, but I bet Mike could. Tip of the hat to you for your apology. Lucky for you guys, I'm shorebound as an angler in these there parts of south king county. #-o

BMC - good for you. I'm very serious when I say take advantage of this site (and others like it) to mobilize and work torward your visions. Good luck to you.

Othere comments - correct, not banning material (but I didn't see the original heading), but definately not in the spirit this site tries to establish and getting darn close to a temporay suspension. I'd rather try to redirect the conversation so as to help people see there are better ways to approach these issues. When possible I like to be constructive, rather than destructive. Just seems like a better way to go through life. The muskie guys got it right with their campaign and I'm sure it wasn't easy to go through all the work to present and win over their position. With the huge number of bass anglers you would hope they could unite and have some power as well.

Hopefully the Secret Lake reporter will continue to share his reports, especially when catching a MONSTER BASS like that -way to go!

Report Editing - yup, once posted only Aaron or myself can edit it.

so did you guys catch any fish today?

Islandbass, drop me a line if you want to dunk a tub with me. I have a number of boats, but typically take out a little 12ft alum so I can hit non-combustible engine lakes, you are more than welcome to join me sometime if you want. I could use all the bass experience I can weazle out of people right now because I am in a horrible slump and it's getting annoying.

Hey, this is the perfect time for me to say my piece about slot limits in this state, because they seem completely goofed up to me. I grew up in a state where keeper size doesn't even start until about 12" and everything below that is too small. As you can imagine, the waters down there are full of bass.

So... what is with our state's restrictions? Aren't people eating all the small bass they catch? Wouldn't this destroy the bass population since virtually none of the slicks will grow up? I just find it confusing and potentially damaging to our efforts to keep a sustained bass population.

Several lakes down south have been using slot limits and have produced quality size fish. The theory is that the larger ones won't compete with the numerous smaller size bass for food. Also it's not like people are taking small largemouth bass by the bucket loads (at least I hope not), they're restricted to five bass.

Fishing at Lake Forks, TX is a good example, numerous 4 to 9lb fish. Never caught an undersize bass there.

Another example, I grew up fishing with my dad bass fishing in Michigan. We fished a private small lake under 25 acres, there was one secluded access to the public. Being that my Dad is from the old school he'd keep his bass. Growing up and developing a passion for bass, I'd later argue with my dad about catch and release, he never put to much thought to it. Anyways, my Dad moved to the east coast, while I was still in Michigan, I never fished the lake for a few years. One day, my buddy and I decided to try it out, we went there and caught numerous undersized skinny bass. They were all starving.

Slot limits do work, honesty the state should designate a few lakes to try alternate management, they do for trout, why not bass. That's my 2 cents.

Lets just have a fish fry.
We will invite some friends over, say around a dozen or so.
With my wife and I that would be 14.
Now most of my buds are big eaters and can wolf down 5 twelve inch fish pretty darn easy.
So If I go out to catch enough fish for my guest's that means I need to kill around 50 fish at 12 inch's.
If I could keep them at 2 pounds or 17 inch's, I would only need to kill around 10 fish to have plenty. :-k
