Post by kinghunter » Thu Jul 22, 2010 7:09 pm

No, I'm not talking about your vomitus from last night. Any recent report on those rivers would be appreciated.

Puke isnt open yet read your regs silly. Nisqually opened up on the 1st of july. Ive not heard of anything there yet myself. I got a decent size network going when it comes to where and when bites are on. Green is sloooooowwwwwww. But there is fish in there. You have to take the green as good practice waters.
More fish please!

The green will produce if you know where to go and how to fish that hole........it is just like fishing the sound....don't go where everyone else goes, fish hold in other areas. On the green expect to have to hike to a good holding hole. My hold is down a cliff and hard to get into.

I drive by the Nisqually 2 days a week and have only seen some crazy kids jumping off the Mounts Bridge. No fish jumping. I'd give it a few more weeks.

Anyone else see that the Puke opens August 1st, but barbless hooks and night closure don't start until the 15th? :-$

Thats pretty funny there kinghunter. It seems to me that our rivers in the south sound including the Green get better towards mid August.Besides with no freshets the fish will only trickle in. Once we get a good NW rain they will come in thick.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

I've done a little bit of early scouting/recon on the puyallup and there seems to be a good bit of action in the river. Not too sure exactly how thick they are but I've seen some nice ones surface... :-$ :-$ :-$ :-# :-# :-" :-"
When times get tough, just keep on fishin'!!!

Hey Slayer,

I have yet to catch any kings or silvers out of the puke. Last year during the pink run, I did have 1 silver on but it jumped and spit the hook out. But definitely hook me up when you go.

It's a little harder to spit a barbed hook, so get 'er done the first two weeks. It will also be easier to catch a coho or chinook with no pinks in the way.

My GF just straight up kills them down there. We could fish side by side and she'll catch 3 to my 1. She sprays the Gulp! Shrimp Scent religiously though, and maybe that helps. I should stop being stubborn and do it too.

i went down to sportco yesterday to stock up for the puke opener and was talkin to tom at the fishing counter. He was telling me that one of the younger fellas there had called the department to check on using barbs hooks til the 15th and he was told it was a misprint. They're gonna selectively enforce the no barbs til the 15th. If you appear to be snaggin they're gonna book ya. thought i'd let y'all know.
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga, except i still get to kill something.

They could get away with selectively enforcing snagging, but they'll be hard pressed to pin someone with using barbed hooks unless they put out an emergency rule. Barbed hooks are NOT synonymous with snagging.
