Baker Lake
So I'm gonna be going camping up at baker the 27th-29th of August and I haven't been up there in forever. I'm kind of assuming that sockeye will be closed by then...am I right? If so, what else should I try for?
You can never catch fish if your line isn't in the water - you don't know if you don't go
RE:Baker Lake
Unless the WDFW issues a WDFW Rule Change in the next few weeks the fishery should remain open until it naturally becomes a nonviable fishery. There are new fish in the trap and, although don’t quote me on this I have read that almost 16,000 fish have returned to the Baker River collection facility. What will get interesting is when the coho start to return to the Baker River collection facility. Will they shut the sockeye fishery down to protect the returning coho? Will the returning numbers of coho support a fishery? Anyway, enjoy your camping trip and bring both the sockeye and trout/kokanee gear.
RE:Baker Lake
One word crawdads. I also saw a bunch of trout hitting the surface in shallow water at the crack of dawn.

Just be on the lookout for Dolly Varden... You can't keep those. We caught one while trolling for sockeye. Really cool looking fish!
