now I have a sw 380 before I had a glock 23 loved it only thing i didn't like about it was the safety features i had to get rid of that one I got tired of being pulled over and harassed when I had the gun legally in the vehicle when traveling. all my riffles but this thread isn't about those. next choice of gun is going to be Springfeild armory i have read great reviews on these pieces and I will probly go with a 40 cal again as I am used to it and it has enought stopping power on one hit than a 380 or a 9mm

Wow, what safety features bothered you about the Glock. They're about the safest things around. To make them fire you must have your finger on the trigger and then put 9 lbs. of pressure on it. They do not misfire ever. They're a full double action, just like any police service revolver. It takes a conscious effort or an unconscious handler to fire one.

Springfield Armory.... One of the largest manufactures of single action autos. Safety features???.........

I can honestly say that in 20+ years of carrying nearly every day I have never been harassed. I have been asked once or twice if I was carrying and the answer was always yes. Nothing else was ever said. On the other hand I have been asked to conceal a pistol when carrying as some people in the area were concerned seeing it legally strapped to my side.

Bodo, the Springfields have a trigger system like Glock has, plus they have the grip safety like a 1911.

I've carried Glocks before. Solid gun, but they just don't fit my hand well. My daughter has a 26 and a 30. I don't care for her's as the grips way too small for my hands, plus the 30 is shaped like and is like carrying a brick. My XDm 9 or my Kahr 9 are far easier to conceal.

my first choice is always Sig, but glock and and the springfield are great guns I have shot many of both in different calibers.

Just open carry your 9mm, this is a open carry state and sure you might get some dirty looks but it is 100% legal to do.

I could be wrong, but incorporated cities can outlaw open carry. Pretty sure that's the case in most cities.

XDm's come with three grip sizes (changeable back strip) at the time of purchase, so you always get a perfect fit.

If you read the law cities can't outlaw the open carry law. there was a case a few years ago about this. A cop tried to tell a gun owner that he couldn't open carry his weapon. he fought him and refused to turn the gun over to the cop. Well he was arrested and the case went to court, the guy won. Cities can't outlaw this, sure it will cause you more of a headache than you want I was just making a point is all.

The Black Diamond Police don't seem to care. A year plus ago I was launching the boat while 2 Police cars were partialy blocking the ramp. My jacket slipped up high enough that my pistol was compleatly exposed. They never said a word, there were 3 officers in the 2 cars. After driving the rig to park, I walked past them back to the boat and said, "The jacket is a little short." They all laughed.

It's all in the feel. I'd bet Sprinfield has made as many 1911's as Colt. I'm sure they do have some new models. Haven't been into the shooting sports for a few years. Practical pistol shooting is a fun league. The Glocks really shone at the time as the only Hi Cap .45's were the Para Ordinance. We all know to make a real shooter out of a 1911 it takes as much as a new gun in upgrades. Unless I guess you want to go for a Kimber or one of the custom shop guns. I'm kinda partial to my Glocks, they shoot right out of the box. I haven't shot for a couple months but I'm pretty sure I could put two in the chest and one in the head of a silloette target just about any time I choose. Trigger safety and a grip safety, still not enough to protect the unconcious handler as they will be pushing on the grip with a finger on the trigger trying to hoster the weapon.

PS I don't much care fpr the little b1tch Glocks either. I don't have big hands so the compacts are great, my 21 is a real handfull but nothing else Id rather have if I needed a show stopper.......

reason I say safety features is mainly for my kids I had weapons all my life I know how to use them and also Military trained on m9 and m16a2 and I could go up to the 22mm f15 strike eagle gun as I was trained on that but thats a different story I say mainly because of kids my kids hunt with me I do not have to worry but when I owned my glock they were both small and not having that safety switch was a concern for me! does a glock have safety features yes are they a great gun yes no arguements about that once so ever.

I know the state concealed carry law prohibits cities from banning concealed carry, but I couldn't find anything about them being unable to ban open carry. Do you have a link to the law for that? (totally not saying you're wrong, I just want to see it with my own eyes)

I can say without a doubt that will happen. The Police are very polite yet very insistant about covering it up. Now if I were to be threatening a piece of wood with a jack knife that would be a different story altogether.

Took the Colt Mustang to the range for the first time. Two finger grip is really odd. I didnt expect a 380 to kick so much, not sure if kick is the right word. After a dozen clips, I still couldnt really get used to the feel. Tiny rig though. (5+1) Its gonna make a nice backup once it loosens up and I get more comfortable with it.

My buddys SA MDx Compact 9mm is sweet. Would like one in a 40. But I dont want to spend that much. I hear good things about the Smith & Wesson Sigma 40VE.

Any one have any experience with this one?

yeah I bite the bullet today and bought a springfield xd 40 I been searching and researching for a new pistol and bigger caliber
as a 380 is fun but my daughter can have that one know when we go hunting only. nice size for her. to shoot with this is the sub compact model.

I'd go with the Glock 40. My Dad owns one and he's a corrections officer, I had one also while I was in shooting comps. My uncle owns a range down in CA. I had the 22 .40 also.

Meeks yeah i had a glock 23 for years but got ride of it I wanted another glock 23 but not able to find any to compare to the xd40 xd's have great reviews also holds nice in my hands. I will get the grip extender for another 15.00 with shipping online for the low capicity mag for the bigger mag my hand fits perfect in it. glocks are great guns for sure never had a issue with mine nor any other gun but just 1 in my life. and that was a winchester 300wsm bent pin when getting the gun ready for hunting season. that gun is now retired as I do not trust it any longer to take with me and not be able to take down a 4x4 mule deer when in sights.
