i will never stay at this campsite again! it right next to the freeway.. dad and got at least 4 hours of sleep fishin was ok though cuaght a couple of brookes

Amen to that!!:bounce: I stayed there just one time about 4 years ago. It was cool.. the kids rode their bikes around the loop of the campground, we enjoyed some walks, etc. But, DANG, the traffic noise was unforgetable!!

When it opens up for Memorial Day weekend, give Kachess Lake campground a try. It's dry camping so no hookups, but the campground is nice, quiet and they have 2 launches with one being wide and paved. Not the best place for shore fishing but in a boat you can pick up a bunch of smaller kokes, the occasional mack and if you are lucky a burbot or two.

I stayed there many years back, but I didn't really notice the traffic that much. What I did notice was the stench lingering in the campground after the winds died down. It was so bad, I contacted the park ranger and asked what the problem was. We walked around the campground and she could smell it and identified it immediately. People in stead of waiting in line to dump their trailers waste tanks, would open the valve, let it drain and then drive off. She found two sites that evening where people had done that. She told me that it is fairly common at campgrounds close to an interstate highway. They can dump it and be 100 miles down the road before anyone notices.

Interesting. You would think that the Ranger could check the site registration and maybe address that issue with the guest via the mail.

They may have. I left the following morning and went up to the Sol Duc. All they would have to do is put bogus information on the envelope and they couldn't track them. This was in the off season, so I was lucky to even see a ranger in the evening.

Agreed! One of many of our favorite campsites. Very clean and nice scenery

I remember camping there about 10 years ago with a group of friends. It was either right before summer, or right after Labor Day weekend. Either way, off peak time.

I don't remember it being noisy. Did a lot of hiking/walking, and a little fishing. No bites.

I would recommend staying on the other side of the freeway at Silver ridge rance behind turtle town! The owners are great and camped there many times on the busiest of weekends. If you have a horse they have spots with horse coralls. go for a guided horse ride. Or bring your dirtbike! In the winter bring your snowmobile and stay in the lodge for a night or two when there is snow. At night visit the airport behind the ranch and watch the stars!
