rjn cajun wrote:Mark that looks great. Now the ouestions. Do we have to right down the method which we caught the fish and the lake we caught the fish at? I thought that part was posted on the site under your name and entry. We just needed the length your card with name and entry numer which Mike is going to give us in the next day or so and date time unless you have it on your camera and of course a pic with the bait in the fish`s mouth. Correct me if I`m wrong.
(I made some corrections to what I wrote previously)
My understanding is: "rigging method and technique/presentation utilized" = not required in the photo, but, required in the report that accompanies the photo that you post... this part is a bit perplexing for me just yet, lots(TOO MUCH) of writing if you write pitching, flipping, deadstick(what the heck is that anyway), texas or carolina, dropshot... ect. If you notice the pic, I have a texas rig yet I called it carolina. Anyhoo... writing: "flipping, texas, weightless" is a lot to shove on the one card with all the other info and that is a clarification I would also like from FnF. another example might be "casting into lillypads, texas, weightless" is even more to get on the card, a lot to remember for one specific fish if I'm going to write it when I post and I hope that isn't required.
Lake = you can write "secret" BUT you must report the real name of the lake to FnF so he can write that into the report to the state, required by the state for the tourney approval.
A measuring device is required in photo, not your measurement written down.
Date and time, yes. bait and hook still attached to fish.

I hope that helps! It's all good!

I just read the rules that were mailed with the baits again. It says different. We don`t have to write down the lake and method. That part will go on the site under your name and code.
Im wrong, you're right. I just reread it...........wheh, maybe I should just catch one so I don't have so much to remember for the report. LOL It'll probably be a week for me between catching and posting, I'll just slap it on the card so I don't get the lakes and fish mixed up.. Thanks for pointing that out though!:)

The essential information we need for it to count is:

1) your index name card in the photo shot. You are NOT getting another number, that card is your confirmation card and what you need to be using.
2) the tape measure in the shot showing the fish length
3) the date the fish was caught
4) the lake - this can be transmitted privately to Rick, but I would hope most will note where it was caught, it will be a lot more fun that way.
5) rigging method and presentation, this can be put on the forum post, you don't need to include it on the card or extra piece of paper.

Being an optimist, I would suggest getting additional index cards to write the specifics on, leaving the card I gave you intact and not writing down each fish on that card. Because if you catch 10 keepers that one index card is going to get mighty crowded.

I dont know If i get to start this weekend,
our truck broke down a few hours. #-o :thumbdown [crying]
Dream BIG baby! Dream BIG! LOL

14" minimum for entries, with only 4 baits, not sure why I built it at all except, I've been thinking of slapping it together for a few weeks now. Now it's done and I LIKE it! LOL that scrap wood had dirt on it, the sheet metal was scrap, the S cleat, I did buy the seamtrist/sewing measuring tape at freddies for less than 2 bucks a few weeks ago for this. A little white paint and voila!

float tube, fins, truck tire, life vest! try craigslist near you or garage sales, maybe something will pop up for you. I used to use a vinyl inflatable raft I rcvd for selling newspaper subscriptions for the times, 10-12 years old then.... God, I must be ALMOST as old as Tom! LOL not quite!

I used the raft backpacking, on the bike, even the bus to get to water to fish, until I had a lic to drive then a canoe was the ticket! Now, toons are in vogue so people should be dumping the float tubes when they upgrade, check craigslist...

Thanks Basser! I was planning on using my cell phone also originally, but, I sometimes fish where there is no service and the battery burns up quickly while searching for service and/or when taking a lot of pictures. I ended up finding an old digital camera my sister gave me. I did the set up on the camera yesterday, lowest pixel count so it will load onto WALAKES, the datestamp shows on the camera but not on the file when xferred to my computer, so the cell phone is now the backup camera.

Dittto: Thanks Mike and FnF for putting this toghether!

(Too close to tourney time to give away any secrets ;o) I like the way these baits work. They are very heavy and cast well. They skip well too. And, just as Fish N Fool Rick said, they have a very nice fluttering wobble as they sink. These may be a new go-to bait for me this year. Gonna have to save up some money and make a purchase soon.

Thanks to Rick and Mike for organizing the tournament and for the sample baits!

Hey rockjiggr,
Congrats on nailing your first Sink-N-Fool bass already and on the 3rd cast too!!! That's cool, sounds like you have it figured out already, now you just have to catch that nice Smallie again in the contest. Tnx for the great report.

ouch, sorry to hear that, sad news. You may find fishing a few hours to get away to be therapeutic. Hang in there.

Everyone - your "code" is the Index Card you got in the mail with your baits. In the morning I will lock the entry thread and unlock the new "Live" derby thread which we'll keep track of the fish you catch and have a leader board in place.

As this is the first time we've ever attempted an "online" fishing contest please bear with Rick and I as we sort things out. I'm sure a few issues and questions will come up so maintain your humor and keep in mind "this is for fun"! Thanks. :dj:

BTW, we have 40 anglers entered - way to go, that's a very impressive turnout for the first time ever. [thumbup]

40 - that's great.

I'm leaving shortly. Didn't feel like hitting the lake at midnite plus 1 second this morning.

Alrighty, the derby is now officially OPEN!

Good luck to all. BTW, Rick tells me there were several anglers that signed up at his seminar Friday evening. They still have to sign up on WL.com and post on the derby entrance thread, but they have contest baits and are in. Just wanted to let everyone that was registered already be aware they aren't getting in after the expiration time.
