I'll tell you a quicky. Do I care the natives use nets? Nope. Let them They do deserve it. Me If I want a salmon right now and Pinks dont count. I'll go to the First ave bridge where the Muckleshoots unload their nets. I buy fish from them at 2 bucks a pound. I can get bucks or hens. Now I admitted this on another site years ago and I was banned from the site. The same band that banned me are the ones who go buy fireworks from the Natives or gamble in their casinos. Im not into either but I will support the tribes buying a fish here and there. I just dont want to hear that I owe anyone anything. Also in Monroe theres a guy from the Lummis that sell fish. I'll pick one up here and there. Do you think my one fish here and there will make it all go away. I doubt it. Ifin the crew here want to ban me because I buy native salmon so be it. Its not gonna stop me from supporting the Natives. Poo I agree with your original post other then I dont owe anybody anything .Have a great day all. I'll see if I can log on tomorrow now.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Rac- U Got banned??? LOL I was surprised to see I got banned from a less stellar site recently (less stellar than this one). Good one but not as good as this one IMO:) No idea why.
My wife and I used to live next to a shipyard guy that would score a decent salmon for us during the 'season' down there.
With the netting, there certainly is less bycatch with differing mesh sizes but still there's a fair amount of unintended bycatch. I remember years ago having to try and help a frontload gillnetter untangle a porpoise from its net. It was a huge effort but think it worked out. Diving birds in the top several feet are also comon unintended catches (they usually drown). Of course other salmon species get in there too some.

Here it goes the tibes have right to net even if they net it's ok atleast they dont take the whole river then that will be unfair us fishermen have more room to fish then those tribes so you should respect what you got and theres thousands of fish in the river they get alot but they can only net for certain days if they did it everyday then most of the fish will be gone but still there we be plenty for us think about it about 900,000 pinks are hitting the puke...But for the netting schedule i dont konw the area i fish has no nets and is probably one of the best spots that ive been to on the puyallup.Im not against all you that hate the tribes but thatd just a reminder that there will allways be fish for us.
Good luck-KingFisher
