Yo there hasn't been much activity yet. river is wayyyyy low. by september first its usually got fish but theyre in the bay for sure. apparently a native american guy caught 98 fish in one net set out there. If it rains they will be in there. otherwise september first. You can fish the mouth from one side this year without a permit so its something to try towards the end of the month. Ive checked it out a few times you can see bottom in all the holes. nothing showing yet. need rain bad. good luck to you in there. ill be away at college.

Above the farm to market bridge you can fish it just like the skok, but from the bay view /Edison bridge( lowest point open to fishing ) up to farm to market bridge is float fishing only( all bait or lures must be suspended by a float )....

THanks! yeah I wanted there to be fish in there sooooo badly before I left. but seriously, first rain, go to the mouth and fish the first hole with eggs likely some fish cruising around in there. Let me know how it goes there because its gonna be real hard for people to snag which will most likely mean a better egg bite!

alright headed to the Samish this weekend, I have never been there or fished it, I am taking my inexperienced girlfriend, (is it combat fishing) should I go fishing with a float in the lower or corky and yarn in the upper? do I need to watch for tides if not is the evening better then the morning (less fishing pressure), also is wading required at all the access spots. Thanks

Be careful in that mud, last time I was there I sank a bit to deep and tore a hip muscle getting out.

Pretty much entire river is that boggy.... There is a reason the Samish is nick named " the ditch "... I went up this last week with a couple of WL members and it was very crowded all the way up past the farm to market bridge... My GF and I are saying forget the Samish this weekend and heading to whidbey to fish off the beach for Coho...
