Cool picture. That tail looks huge. Makes me think I need a better reel.
What did she weigh?
Thanks, That is what I was thinking when I hooked her. That tail nearly schooled me.
She was 9.2 cleaned, plus about a pound of eggs. Surprised me, I figured she was 11 or 12
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker
Well it is no longer set to private but for some reason when I try and watch it on wl site I get sound and no video, but if I go to youtube it works just fine. cool vid!

Why didnt you go asked the guy that you saw catch those 2?
I think it is slow all around, just keep casting and find the little slots where the fish like to hold, observe where others are catching fish and fish there next time using the same technique. Also do not take breaks you never know when the bite will turn on so keep casting. i have never fished the sky system before so I do not know what to use there or how to fish it these are just basic rule of thumbs.
On the sky the fish tend to bite at dawn and dusk and sometimes around 1pm-ish. With the water so low and clear you have to be stealthy. If you know where the fish hold and you are not getting bit try different size and different colored jigs. Use a longer leader and fluorocarbon. A good example is last time I was there I didnt hit a fish where I knew they were sitting and then a guy came up next to me using 8lb mainline and 6lb leader and hit 2 fish in a couple of casts, and he was using a jig almost like mine. He broke off both, but at least he hooked up twice while i went for zero. It was a good learning experience.

yeah I didn't really relize it much until this year but when I was at the cascade fishing a spot on the raspberry hole then moved to the other side of the river to see a guy hook 2 where I was standing using the same thing I had rigged up on one of my rods except he just kept casting and casting opposed to when I would take little breaks to talk with other fisherman and only cast that rig a couple times.
also pacnw, fish methods you are used to fishing with, like if you normally drift corkies for salmon and do good, then fish corkies for steelhead just use lighter/smaller gear and colors in orange, pink, and red to start of with.
The best part is when your lucky enough to be that badass catching fish when everyone is struggling. Everyone has there turn. One day ill be the only guy hittin any and the next day ill be thr only one not. Same gear each day, ect...
