Hood Canal area

Post by KNM » Mon Mar 25, 2013 6:54 pm

Well I'm headed over to the Hood Canal with the family. We have a friend who lives in Bremerton who is taking us claming/oystering in the Hood Canal. I'd also like to do some salt water fishing but he does not know where to go and for what to fish for. I see that bottom fishing is closed for the Hood Canal. A day trip to Port Angeles maybe in the plan and was wondering if there was any good shore fishing in the area. Particularly I'd be interested in some surf perch fishing if it was possible, but any fish will do. I'd just like to catch something.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, whether a beach, pier, area, etc I'd be very thankful. If you don't want to make your spot public just PM me, I promise not to give it away.

Thanks,

KNM

This time of year your best bet fishing in Hood Canal will be for sea-run cutthroats. Its open year-round but is always C&R. Target streams entering the main body of water. If you're on the fly rod try tossing chum-fry patterns. If you're tossing gear, then any small spinner will do the trick(blue fox, kastmaster, ect). I prefer something in chartreuse. Good luck!
