Gorbuscha invasion

Has anybody caught any pinks this year that are not natal to that stream? In mid July I caught one that was already spawned and was 2lbs on its best day. Today I caught another one that was even smaller on another small stream that does not have a population of pinks. Anybody else caught any straying pinks this year?

I transport them in live water tanks and deposit them in local lakes to just see confuse fishermen.

We found a hen in the Skykomish that was maybe two LBS, not a stray but very small

Not to be a party pooper....but that is probably not the best idea.....transplanting a non native fish to a closed body of water can have serious repercussions down the road...I don't think it is legal either......

Skagit I've been fishing these rivers for years and even the local guides have never seen one. What's even weirder is that today on another system hours away from hoodsport I found a dead clipped pink. Hoodsport stray perhaps?

No hatchery that i know of. And the hoodsport and dungie hatchery are the only ones that do pinks that i know of.

What is the big deal? I bought this little Tilt Back Tow truck and welded up a few thousand gallon tanks in the back. I am trying to help WDFW out by adding bigger fish into the lakes for recreational fishing opportunities. Of course I figure they appreciate all my efforts but can never "openly" tell me due to legalities. So I just consider myself a zorro of sorts. Each fish is treated with respect during the transport process and we even spread Zebra Mussels out in the areas where we plant to give dem little pinkies something to munch on while they figure out the lay of the lake.

Ok ok, I did forget to mention that I was totally joking, I mean who would do such a thing. Imagine a few thousand gallons of water on a truck, no way any small hydraulic lift could move that you would have like over 16,000lbs to lift.

No no Indeed I was joking around. I actually only have two 400 gallon tanks on the back. But just so people understand I really am doing this because I read Nate Treats article on why the rivers are crowded and figure he must be dead on. So I am getting my part done by creating a new salmon population and then I am going to let WDFW either open it up to Native Netting or create a safe area for people to fish for the purpose of feeding familes. That will then relieve pressure off the rivers and I figure I might either get a prize or some type of accolade. I am not counting on any recognition, that would just be a cherry on the top.

Oh and Although the zebra mussels sound really invasive, the salmons like to nibble that kibble and of course most of the guys that are harvesting for their extended families like making soup with those little rascals so I figure the population will be kept in check. I don't have a solution for the Asian Milfoil ... but trust me when I say that is on my to do list.
