Sockeye to be reintroduced to the Skokomish

I searched and didn't see anything posted about this. First posted on KOMO's website 2 months ago, July 13th, and updated last week.

The captured fish will go into a hopper and move by tram up the side of the cliff and into a sorting facility, where they will be separated by species. If not needed for hatchery production, the fish will be trucked beyond Cushman Dam Number 1 and released into upper Cushman Lake, where they can find their way into the upper part of the North Fork.

they already have a small run of sockeye that spawn and rear in the river. I saw one female several years ago. would love gto catch them in the salt.

Considering many fishing options are closing down it's nice to see another possibility coming online. If they can get Lake Cushman anywhere like Baker and Wenatchee that will be a nice boost for the economy over there and give anglers on that side of the Sound some new opportunities. Cushman is another one of those scenic mountain lakes that would be blast fishing for sockeye in. Although, all those kokanee will be a challenge to get through.

Why not use the same system on the Skokomish dams that they are using on Wanapum dam to get fish over the dams.
I understand it is working great and it is inexpensive.
