Funny you mention this. Tonight at sportsmans, I met a guy who mentioned this event and I think he is a member of the group. I ain't got the skills to fish in a tournament but it sure looks like a lot of fun. Got game anyone? :bball:

Brian Henderson maybe?

Whats cool about this tournament is if you can go out during the 8 hours its going and catch just one fish you could win $1000. That makes me want to enter a little more than if that offer wasn't on the table. I know there have been a lot of times I went out for the day and only caught one 3 or 4 pound fish. Well in tournament competition a fish that size could be the big one. Esp. if its a small mouth.

how deep are these fish?

Let me ask my question a different way and here's an opportunity to educate a few of us non-cold weather bass fishermen. I'm assuming for the sake of this tournament that the bass have to be alive for weighing.

What's the procedure for bringing bass up from deeper waters and keeping them for a couple of hours in a live well? Is there any depth related problems the bass encounter?

I fish for rockfish in the salt and see some of them with bulging stomachs and that's what I can relate to.

thanks,

I KNOW YOU PROBABLY MENTIONED THIS BEFORE DANIELT, BUT, DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE BIG TOURNEY BOAT SET-UP FOR THESE KIND OF TOURNEY'S?? MY BUDDY AND I WERE THINKING $65 A PIECE IS CHEAP FOR ALL THAT IS OFFERED, AND, THE CHANCE TO WALK AWY WITH THE $1000. ANYONE WILL HAVE A SHOT THIS TIME OF YEAR. ALSO, DO YOU HAVE TO BE IN A CLUB??

The bass could be any where from 15-60ft deep. They do need to be alive and released after weight in. When you pull them up from this depth they do often need to be "fizzed" but its a simple thing to do if you learn the proper way. You can tell if they need it or not after a short amount of time in the live well. Last year the club putting this tournament on held a "fizzing" how to before the tournament started and gave fizzing needles out to contestants. Ive never seen a bass die from doing this but I'm not going to say it doesn't happen.

No you do not need to be in a club. No you do not need to have a bass boat. BUT you need to have boat that can handle the waters. Pass a coast guard inspection and follow the rules of boating. You need a live well to keep the bass alive. You need a contest banner for your outboard. You need life vest. Go to evergreenbassclub.com for tournament rules.

Also could you please take your "caps lock" off your keyboard..its hard to read all capitols sometimes.

thanks danielt. sorry about the caps!im thinking i might have to drag the new boat over the pass for the tourney, as my 12 ft.'er probably is to small (even though it is equipped). thanks for the info.

I forgot to put the option pot for big fish is $25 so it would be $75 per person if you want in on the big fish money.

Does anyone have an extra seat in a real boat?
My 10 foot jon boat is too small for Sammamish, plus I've heard that ALL boats have to be registered regardless of size and/or motor because Sammamish is a "federal navigable waterway" -- just like Lake Washington.
I'm more than willing to pay my share of the expenses and share anything in my tackle box(s).

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you guys know that the big fish last year was under 4lbs. I think it was 3.6 lbs, so it does not need to be a monster fish. There will also be some great raffle prizes from all of the sponsors, and there are a lot! The winner last year got 2600 dollars, but he will not be fishing this year! So there will also be a draw for one boat that blanks to get their entry fee back (not big fish option though)! It is a lot of fun, and there will be some nice bags weighed in. The temp last year was 51 degrees out and sunny, so the fishing was a bit tougher, but there were 50+ fish brought to the scales...
Thanks,
Brian

I heard from another site that big fish was 3.97 lbs. Winner had four fish with 10.7lbs and 12 boats got blanked. I'm not sure how many boats participated.
