Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016
got number 11 bobber and bead style, sure do lose a lot of fish that way but you also hook a ton, not sure if I like that trade off anymore
Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016
Got this one today..Not the prettiest fish, realllly dark, but the meat isn't bad on it and it hasn't spawned yet so I wouldn't call bonking it a mistake. Still darkest steelhead I've ever caught.

Well...here's my first steelhead ever!!!!! (thanks to the help of riverhunter...thanks again for the fishing tips and nice meeting ya!) It has been a dream fish of mine for a very, very loooong time. Pretty stoked about this buck! Now I'm hungry for more and spending money left and right haha. It's been great to have some time off to get out fishing. One more week to try and get another
Next goal...catch one on a fly (this will be a little more difficult than catching browns, brookies and rainbows on dry flys haha)
Also got my very first coastal cuttie and bull trout last week!! Just moved here from Iowa, so looking forward to lots of fishing and meeting new friends!

It was my pleasure and nice meeting you also. Bead fishing under an indicator with fly rod can be effective. Pm me when you get back to washington.Eglseder wrote:Well...here's my first steelhead ever!!!!! (thanks to the help of riverhunter...thanks again for the fishing tips and nice meeting ya!) Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016
And at long last, AJFishdude crosses the finish line, bringing up the rear for the 'first steelhead of winter 2015/2016' contest. Lol. It wasn't for lack of trying though. I had hooked and lost 5 prior to finally landing this one today, my 6th hookup. Along the way though I managed to gather a ton of info on how to fish one of my local flows and was able to start putting together a pattern of repeatable success. It cut really dark too, looked almost like a Coho. No complaints here!
Re: Steelhead Pics & Reports 2015/2016
It's been a while since my last, but finally hooked another. 34". Blushed and a little skinny, but awesome fight.
