Shakey Worms

Any of u guys tried this yet? I've got some worms, I haven't bought any jig heads for it; What size of jig head would I need to fish Lake Washington or Samamish? Do I need the cork screw jig heads? Any help would be appreciated.

yup, shakey heads rock. The screw in jigs ar OK but i like the finesse jigs that just have a small keeper hook to hold the plastic in place. i like them in the summer time, when you cant buy a bite power fishing. work them really slow and do alot of shaking. i almost always feel nothing when they bite. just completly lose feeling of the jig, then set hook with a sweep.

for washington or sammamish i wouldnt go under 1/4 oz.

The weight is determined by the depth you are fishing. With no current I go 1/8oz up to 20-25ft. You dont really need the screw in heads. I use a ball jig with out a collier and just Texas rig it.

And now bass master magazine puts out an article about a technique called "flip shake"which i believe DT had already showed me to try at docks at a later time.

Flick Shake. Nothing new just a new name. Also know as the wacky rig jig or inchi rig.

Hey Paul, I use a 1/8oz. 4/0 shakey head jig (screw on ones). Worm wise 5in to 7 in. , but use something that "FLOATS". I found some robo worms that floats and they are sick!!! The jig head keeps the worm down and the tail sticking straight up off the bottom (hope this makes sense). Then just shake it like you would with senkos wacky rig style. I also heard "Lizards" are great..... Hope all that make sense.

Sure does Josh, I've read about the concept, I even have the floating worms, never bought the jig heads for it. Never thought an avid steel header knew about shakey heads lol. Good to hear from ya man.

I love shaky heading and have caught a lot of fish on them. I like a head about a 1/4 oz. This might seem heavy for a finesse rig but I use them on the bottom part of my dropshot rig... and I like a little weight to get 2 worms down on the bottom. I use "bite me" jig heads... but I got them a while ago and I don't know if they are still the best... but I like the ones w/ the weed guard. I use zoom finesse worms or trick worms (trimmed down) not fancy but they work! It is the only method that has caught any smallies for me up here. I'll show my rigging when we go fishing together!

Any reason not to use smaller 60º flat eye football jigs for shakey heading? I was looking at getting the do-it shake-it mold SRH-6-A, but it uses the same hooks as my football molds, the only difference is the round jighead. There is also the do-it SRG-6M-SLA shake-it mold that has the screw lock. So, football head, round head, or round head screw lock... any difference in actuall shakey heading use?

I have all the gear for shaky heading, but have used it for less than a hour total ever. I think that will change this year. Will have to try it when drop shotting isn't working (is it possible for a drop shot to not work? :compress: )
Anyone use a shaky head for LM? I have some trick worms, big kuttail GY's, and some flirt worms I may have to try.

I prefer the flat football head jigs. I usually use the shaky rig during warmest days of summer. Have you ever tried to walk these jigs on a log on the lake bottom, run it down the whole log....SWEET!

Dropshot always works. I'm in the same boat, it's hard to put the drop shot rig down.

I've been killing fish with the shakey head lately. THey seem to love the action. When fished shallow and worked out deeper you can watch the worm working it's magic. I'm going to have to get more of my secret colors worms again. Good thing they are only $0.88 at cabellas#-o

Which one do you want? I'm leaning towards the one with the screwlock. You know my price for jigs :money:.

Order me some of those worms too! You were spankin' them under that dock... three hook-ups (after that other boat fished it!)

Shaky heads have been good to me... Berkley Gulp! shaky worms are great, they are awesome dropshotted and carolina rigged also...
