RE:Memorial Day Weekend Plans?
I'll be hanging out at home catching up on stuff and wishing I could have gone to Rufus with my brother and his 2 boys. They are taking the boat and plan on camping on the boat and fishing all weekend. Doesn't sound like much fun. Glad I couldn't go.
RE:Memorial Day Weekend Plans?
Well my fiance and I were going to go backpacking up to Waptus/Spade lake north of Cle Ellum. Never been up there before but it looked like a nice hike from all that I have read/seen. According to the Wenatchee national Forest site though most of that area is still under quite a bit of snow and closed to hiking/camping so it looks like I will be in the area. No definite plans on what to fish for now so if anyone will be in the King county area and would like a fishing buddy (good saturday after 10 am, and anytime on sunday/Monday) PM me and I will be happy to get skunked on the shore with you or go out in your boat and keep you company. If that doesn't happen, well I have an old (1997) seahawk 2 person inflatable raft with mini-paddles I will take out to Beaver, Pine, or whatever other lake looks appetizing (Might even try lake Washington though the powercraft there might be a bit to much...
Keep it safe this weekend everyone!

Thanks for the warning about Dollys, I totally forgot about them. I "think" it's pretty easy to distinguish the two, then again I've never caught one so I wouldn't know. I have not heard if the snow has melted, but I would sure hope so. Would you happen to know if there are any other lakes around the easton ponds that are good trout fishing?kevinb wrote:I know this area well. I don't think anyone will give you crap for keeping any. Just make sure their not Dolly's,this area has a bunch and Ranger's that do their job and keep an eye out.
Have you heard if the snow has cleared? I know its been melting but their was alot to get down.

Right on!!!Derrick-k wrote:It is what you think it is, go to the lower part and you might see me!kevinb wrote:Is that what I think it is?:-$Derrick-k wrote:I will be at my secret lake, "lake Clear Water":-$ This time I will be fly fishing though so I don't know what my success will be but the only time I don't think I have ever been skunked there so I should do well, the bait rod will be packed just as a back up.
I'm not tell'n but I may be there myself:cheers: I'll PM in a little 'bit.
Still up in the air...I will know for sure by tomorrow. Might even head up to B.C.,but we'll see, this is the first time in several years that I've had the entire weekend off. We might go to our lake property ...either way I'll let ya' know if I hit your area.

I actually won't be bringing up the boat this time, and my target fish will be rainbows.(No ones showed me the ways of catching bass yet )Awoods wrote:Will you have a boat?kevinb wrote:Thanks for the warning about Dollys, I totally forgot about them. Well in that case..I'll save the safety speech for another day. Lake Easton should be OK but I've never caught anything from the shore here. The fishing is hit and miss but remember this is where the Yakima River begins its flow....which means the possibility of hooking a lmb,smallie.....maybe even a walleye is possible. I fish Katchess often but from the shore at this time of year is tough...I will say the best lure here is and always is the Kastmaster, usually rainbow in color. The kokanee go ape s**t for it. There are some lake trout but at the lowest depths(don't bother with them right now) Lake Cle Elum is the same as Kachess with species, size and depth. If you have any questions about these lakes, camping spots..etc. Just ask. I fish and camp here alot...we might even be up here for the weekend....we still have no clue yet.Awoods wrote:I actually won't be bringing up the boat this time, and my target fish will be rainbows.(No ones showed me the ways of catching bass yet )Awoods wrote:Will you have a boat?kevinb wrote:Thanks for the warning about Dollys, I totally forgot about them. Also should add
Bring warm clothes(I'm sure you know) but the temps drop fast even on the hottest summer days.(no bs) I've been up here with summer day temps in the upper 90's and then a sudden drop to almost freezing. COLD FAST

Awoods wrote:I'm going camping with the family up in kittias county. There is this pond that I fished last year that is right by the campground called "easton pond" I did very well out of there last year, so I'll wake up have breakfast, go fishing, grill the fish(I know yall like C&R, but its all apart of the camping experience, sorry), roast marshmallows, then talk about random stuff. It should be fun. I might even try some other lakes around that area.
Those are good little ponds that will always kick out fish about a month or so after they got stocked. Lucky for you it was just stocked and doing all right. My buddy and his girlfriend fished it last weekend and they did pretty well. There are suprisingly, some big trout in there as well, so dont limit yourself to the stockers, thas where I scrwed up.

Banks Lake this weekend. Weekend after that, Banks Lake. The weekend after that, probably Banks.
I have never met a fish yet that respected a big purchase. You can own a $100 boat or you can own a $30,000 boat. You might be more comfortable, but don't expect any fish to care about your investment.
RE:Memorial Day Weekend Plans?
KTK, I wont be fly fishing but I will be around Beaver this weekend some time. Going to try and catch something worth eating and a whole lot of CaR.
