Last saturday was Idaho's fish for free day, so I headed the 5 miles east of my normal Newman Lake stomping grounds to Hauser. WOW what a differance 5 miles makes.
Unlike the liberals in Olympia who say they care about animals and the eviroment, Idaho actually cares! Before you boat can enter the water there is a hose off area with a large metal signs showing you where the clean your boat/mtr/trlr to stop the spead of milfoil.
The launch actually had a dock, what a concept the dollars used for fishing/hunting license acutally is put back for the use of the people who foot the bill. This is a novel concept with the Wa dept of fish and wildlife! My son and I caught large bluegill and crappie for about 5 hours when the wind kicked up and it was time to head home.
On the way out I was approached by a game warden. Unlike the Jackbooted thugs of Washington the officer who I encountered did eyeball my boat, gear, and cooler doing his job, but he did it in a very professional and friendly manner. He thanked my 5 year old for fishing in Idaho, wearing his life jacket and said he was happy we had a good time! Another novel concept missed by the director of WDFW, Dr Koenings and his people.
I am a 5th generation Washingtonian and have hunted and fished in this state my whole life. After one visit into Idaho it shows what a joke our game/fish management is! Payday is in 4 days, I think after I pay the mortgage I'm buying a Idaho fishing License. I never realized what a joke my state is.

I buy an Idaho fishing and hunting license every year. Take a look at their website. They stock their lakes with 100's of thousands of triploids instead of 200 here and a thousand there. Hayden Lake has been stocked with about a million triploids in the past few years.

You know 5 miles is not that far to move. Have you given that any thought? Then all your tax dollars could support Idaho. I'm sure all of us in the great state of Washington and their screwed up Fish and Game Dept would not miss you a bit. Washington - Love it or Leave it.

Jmay:The washing station at hauser lake was funded by the local water coalition. It is a small group of local residenc that held fund raisers to implement the wash down station to help stop the redistribution of asain milfoil. I am fairly new to Idaho and am really impressed with their fish and game department. Glad you had a good experience with your son in our state. I have been to numerous washington lakes and their boat launches do have better construction as far as slope goes. Idaho boat launches are usually way to flat which means you end up with half your truck in the water. Oh yeah hauser has musky:-$ and caddis1, nice first post you tool! next time introduce yourself and post something of merrit before flaming someone.

Okay guys. First off I love Washington. My family has been here for 120 years. 90% of my fishing and all of my hunting has been done in this State!
I have considered the move to Id, however I'm not a big fan of income taxes everywhere state has its shortcomings. I have never had more than a speeding ticket in my life and have some pretty poor expirances with WDFW on many levels. I also disagree with WDFW spending a tune of money trying to save a butterfly or praire rabbit when we have Mule deer population issues for example.
Now that I know someone else paid for the milfoil washing station I will take that remark back. However I have been to 75 boat launches in Washington and fact remains we have nothing like that in Washington and it was a breath of freshair to see people actual do something to protect there resource. Olympia talks a good game, but in MY opinion does very little to help wildlife. My hats off the the Hauser Coalition for trying to stop the problem
