Yes...me and a few friends were at Eloika for the last couple of days. Yesterday was the best catching many perch over 10 inches, bass, rainbows and browns too. The ice is in layers though...about 3 inches on top of a solid 7-8 inches under some slush. This warm snap might make it a pain to walk out there though... we'll see

Just go north of Spokane on HWY 2 past Riverside into Elk. It will be on the left. You will probably have the best luck walking in from Jerry's Landing... There will be signs on HWY 2 after Elk for the turn. Good luck!

I growed up in the south. Lived on the wet side for almost 30 years.
This is going to sound real stupid and I can't help It. How do you find fish when you can't see the topography of the bottom?
Also how thick does the Ice need to be safe? Is there a how to web site you would recomend.
Come to think of it.
I'll trade a Tiger Musky for 2 trip on Lake Tapps, Boat and tackle provided in July for a perch threw the ice in Feb you suply what we need.

I'm not in the toilet yet, but I'm definitely standing on the rim.

well if you ever make it to the east-side and want to go, I have plenty of tackle. I'm young, but I grew-up in northern Wisconsin so i know quite a bit about the ice and how to catch fish. We are planning many trips in the next few weekends so just let me know...

Eloika has been decent recently for perch. Fish aren't too big though. We've been going out from the public launch. Haven't gone out from Jerry's Landing yet but may try it some time. Jerry's is charging $3.00 for access to the lake.

Has anyone tried recently to fish Newman? About 10 days ago, I stopped by but the public access wasn't plowed so don't see where one could park. Anyone got any ideas?

I hear the ice on Newman is good to go.

Bill to answer your question, and this is just what I use, everyone has differnt preferences. I use a Lowrance handheld GPS with Navionics lake chip to checkout contours, etc. A Marcum flasher as my depth/fish finder. And I do have a uw camera that is fun to use but definetly not a must. Two good websites are IceShanty.com and fishingminnesota.com. Goto the forums, tons of info. Hope this helps.
